  • linda from barnoldswick reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "Excellent value for money. Very clean and well maintained. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily replacing sheets and towels. The room was of a good size with a decent balcony to sit on and take in the Nile view. The pool whilst on the small side was adequate and very clean. Never a problem to get a sunbed and towels were provided for the pool. Excellent poolside service for food and drinks. Breakfast was an egyptian buffet style but you could also have omlettes, toast or cereals. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Close by are restaurants and cafe's which serve good food at reasonable prices, only a shortwalk to the Corniche to the many restaurants by the Nile. Enjoyed the stay at the hotel and would recommend."

  • Steven from Redditch reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "Hotel was clean, bedding changed daily. The best Hotel I've stayed in Luxor. But as a light sleeper i found the traffic noise a pain also the chime the lift made ever time it moved. I would stay at The New Pola Hotel again. Near the beach. NO. as Luxor is inland and not on the coast as some people think."

  • Ebun from London reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "As a base for exploring luxor I think the New Pola is right. I have stayed there before and I find the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, and an added bonus was the fact that the staff remembered me. I also saw others there that I had met at the hotel before, so they obviously liked it as much as me. The food isn't fantastic, but there are loads of local restaurants."

  • Top Tip:

"The el Kagbagy (sorry about the spelling) is a nice restaurant near the Nile. The tourist market isn't too far to walk to, Luxor temple is also in walking distance. And if you want to be a real Egyptian, downtown isn't far, where the locals are friendly and helpful."

  • NICOLA from LIVERPOOL reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "All staff are wonderfully friendly and cant do enough to help you. The food isn't great and I would recommend eating out instead. But if like most tourists your in Luxor to see the sites, then I would recommend this hotel as its very basic but clean and comfortable."

  • Top Tip:

"Do not get dragged into buying things through a kalesh driver as they get 50% commission on everything you buy while with them i.e. any shops they take you to or even bars etc. you are much better going and haggling in the markets yourself.
The Grand Coffee Shop just past the pizza hut is a must! Extremely friendly people, great food and drink and NO hassle!"

  • Lorraine from Oxford reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "The Pola is a very cheap budget hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and of a good size. The pool area is good for this type of hotel but would be too hot from May to September. This hotel is ideal for a few days if you are sightseeing. Breakfast is very basic and the atmosphere was sombre! the staff are friendly but service is slow. Food prices are very reasonable - dinner 30LE (less than £3) and drinks incl water are much cheaper than other hotels. This hotel is newish, in a good position close to the corniche and we thought it was good value for money."

  • Top Tip:

"The italian and Lebanese restaurants at the Nile Palace Hotel are excellent. Kl Kebagby restaurant on the corniche is good value. Top tip, stop and chat to the locals because they have a great sense of humour and the hassle is all front! We love Egyptians because they are so friendly despite the fact that we appear so rich and their life is very hard by comparison. (so give good tips as it makes a difference and don't barter them down too hard, after all an extra £1 or 2 is nothing if you can afford to travel!)"

The views from the roof pool are astounding, but pool was a little disappointing, very small !

  • Timothy from Stafford reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "Very Good 3 star hotel. Rooms are very clean, linen & towels changed every day without fail. The pools on the roof with suloungers - the hotel supplies foam mattresses and towels for them. Breakfast is basic continental type, midday snacks are good quality and well priced. The evening meal is three course and set each night, but we were asked what we would like each night and whether we wanted the restuarant or to sit on the roof terrace. Had no problems with the quality of the food! Staff are friendly. As I've said, it's a three star hotel, but for the price, location, and atmosphere - it's a great hotel. Would not hesistate to recomend it to anyone looking at a similar budget."

  • Top Tip:

"Equally spaced between the Sheraton and Luxor Temple, it's great for getting to anywhere in Luxor within 10 minute walk. The staff also helped us arrange taxi's to the West Bank etc. Club Med is across the road, so there's no large buildings blocking views of the Nile (a couple of trees could do with pruning), so the best views are from floor 5 and above."

  • j from london reviewed the Pola Hotel

  • "Immaculately clean hotel and very good for 3 star accommodation. Reception staff can be a little aloof at times.

Having said that, the costs are very reasonable indeed at this hotel, and the food is good. At breakfast there is a continental buffet, but you can also ask for toast and omelette - you won't get it if you don't ask!"

  • Top Tip:

"Everything on the East bank of Luxor is fairly close. Definitely worth checking the Souk out and also Luxor museum and Luxor Temple. There is a good internet cafe on Cornishe, and our favourite restaurant, El Kebabgy, was there too, just opposite the Winter Palace."
