"Good hotel, very happy with the acommodation. Located slightly away from the main attractions but provide courtesy transport. Would go back."

"We enjoyed our stay in the Karnak Sofitel very much.
It was comfortable and clean with friendly staff, great food and an excellent pool. Even the mini bar and room service were affordable.
The hotel is just a 5, maybe 10, minute taxi ride into Luxor town at a cost of E£20 from the front gate. So it's easy to pop in and out of town at will which allows you to enjoy the peace of a hotel outside of town without missing out.
Little extras the hotel lays on, such as Arabic lessons, were also great."

"Hotel location may not suit everyone, need taxi or shuttle bus to go in to Luxor. However due to the location the grounds are quite large and very well maintained.
We were B & B so limited review on food but what choices for breakfast were very good.
All staff were excellent, all pleasant and friendly.
Would no hesitate to go back"

"sofitel Karnak is a beautiful hotel set on the edge of the Nile with the most gorgeous sunsets, the food in the hotel does get very repetitive and I would suggest doing a bit or research to the local restaraunts and going out to dine. Also the rooms are very noisy and you can hear the other guests walking and talking in the rooms above you, sometimes it sounds like they had iron shoes on."

"The hotel was very clean and comfortable, rooms nice and air-conditioned, and lovely views of the Nile. There was plenty to do including water polo, aquagym, bingo, and some shows which we didn't go to as we didn't know where they were! Staff were nice and helpful, though a lot of the reception staff didn't understand us which was a bit of a problem! We had a lovely cleaner who left us towel animals in our rooms every day, which kept us amused! Everyone was very friendly, but if you're travelling without male company prepare to be flattered to within an inch of your lives, though this applies to everywhere not just the hotel. Just don't agree to go anywhere with anyone!
Food at the hotel was a bit of a disappointment, we were only bed and breakfast but for the first two nights we decided to eat at the hotel as it was more convenient. After paying £17 for a rather bland buffet, we realised our mistake and went out! The free shuttle bus goes every hour and it's only a 5 mins journey into town. The poolside bar was nice though, it was just a shame you couldn't use the pool after 8pm.
Overall we had a lovely holiday. We managed to fly to Cairo for the day, visit Valley of the Kings, look around Karnak temple, go on a balloon ride, a cruise to Dendera and a camel ride, and still had plenty of time to lounge around the hotel! There's plenty to do in Luxor and you're pretty much guaranteed to do something you've never done before. Just don't be put off by things like people harassing you, it's annoying but it still makes things more exciting! The people are harmless really, and they'll do all they can to welcome you to Egypt."

"The hotel was very clean - the food was mediocre to good - it could have been hotter in the evenings - some of the buffet food was luke warm which even though it looked good it stopped us eating the meat dishes"

"Excellent hotel - probably one of the best (if not the best) situated in a very covenient location for all the major sights.
Only downside was the hotel food was not the best. Even though there was a lot of choice our group always struggled to find something suitable. The carvery was usually the best but would only satisfy those with stomachs the size of a humming-bird !"

"Sofitel Karnak Hotel was a great place for a visit to Egypt. The facilities are excellent for all ages although I thought personally teenagers would struggle to entertain themselves after dark.
Although a bit out of the way, the shuttle bus & boat offer a free ride into Luxor - and the taxi back once this stops is about E£25 (£2.50).
Food a decent standard and did not experience an upset stomach the whole 2-weeks. Bars reasonable if not a bit over-priced comapred to bars in Luxor, but not that much different to home.
The staff are very welcoming - but if you are blonde and blue eyed expect a lot of attention for them. Nothing too over the top, but if you are female travelling on your own (or with another woman) be prepared to be treated like royalty!"

"This hotel is supposed to be 5* but the service is not good enough for it to be 5*. It is about 3 miles outside Luxor so you will need to take a taxi into town to eat or to see any of the sights. There is a courtesy bus but the last bus into town is 7pm and they are quite infrequent.
The pool if fantastic and is quite clean."

"Sofitel Karanak Hotel is a first class complex to just chill out and relax. Staff are excellent and helpful. Rooms are kept clean and tidy. The free shuttle bus between the Hotel and Luxor is a godsend and not only allows you to explore Luxor historical sites (The driver will drop you off at key sites), it also allows you to be taken to other types of venues (see top tip below). This is my third year in a row staying in the hotel and although I will go to another part of Egypt next year, I do plan to return to the hotel in next 3-4 years"

"The hotel was nice, could do with some updating, however the food was rather disapointing with not a very wide choice.
It was very quiet, if you want to go to clubs and bars then dont go here but if your aim is to relax then this is for you."

"Hotel was really nice, right on the banks of the nile. Eating dinner watching the sun go down was beautiful. Only downside of the hotel would be that people were allowed to smoke in the restaurant, which wasnt always pleasant whilst trying to enjoy a meal."

"Very friendly staff and always accommodating. Facilities are very good and the hotel grounds are well maintained. Keep track of the minibar, as we were overcharged."

"Nice hotel but not 5 star. We were given one of the best rooms i.e. pool, garden and Nile view ( If we leant over the balcony!) so shouldn't complain but it was very cramped. However there was sufficient storage and the aircon and fridge were super cool. The room was kept clean and the bedding and towels were nice a white. Nice pool towels also provided and good sunbeds. Garden and pool areas beautiful. Food was very repetitive but fine. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Evening entertainment was okay. Overall we were very pleased and would go there again."

"I have visited Luxor many times and I prefer to stay away from the busy part of town and relax right next to the River Nile looking towards the West Bank with the farms and sandy mountains behind.
The gardens are so relaxing and the sundowner bar and restaurants all have views overlooking the Nile.
I live in Egypt on the Red Sea Coast so go to Luxor for a reality check for the country I live in. This is an excellent hotel to make you feel you are really in Egypt."

"Lovely Hotel with very friendly staff. Beautiful location with free shuttle bus and shuttle boat making it very easy to get to the centre of Luxor. Food was very g
