"i have stayed at this hotel before and it wasnt as good as it used to be, but a week after i left it was closing to be refurbished so now knowing that i wouldnt have expected any different. They are hardly going to do any work on the place when it is closing down."

"Rooms not ready at arrival.Noisier than Pavillion Wing.
Pool area and staff wonderful and made the holiday."

"Booked a quiet twin bedded room. Allocated a double. Changed this to a twin and were given a roon next to lift shaft. Changed again next day. Found in room cleaning below average and laundry left in room was uncollected for 3 days.
Restaurant at breakfast was hopeless. Waiters running around like ants not knowing what to do. Asked four times for tea, 4 times for glasses for orange juice, 4 times for bread for toast. Seemed to be a shortage of spoons. Tables not laid up properley No organisation at all. Had meeting with management and all present seemed to be of the same opinion. The hotel is being pulled down and has gone down hill rapidly."

"As good a position as any Luxor hotel. Unfortunately no BBC World Service TV- surprising since most guests were English. Good daily room servicing. Very helpful staff. Breakfasts quite good but staff unable to cope with later higher guest-volume sittings, sometimes taking 5 or 6 requests for cutlery, hot-water, crockery, teabags, milk, tea-spoons etc. etc. So avoid being later than 8.45!!"

"the staff were helfull and attentive at all times. lovely gardens, and settings and good to see the hotel has seen some refurbishment as it was starting to look a little tired in parts"

"The hotel staff in the dining area seemed to have rather low moral, maybe due to the rumors of changes that could be happening to the hotel. The tables were never completely set always something missing, The food was often cold just adequate. On the plus side the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel was excellent."

"Fantastic service, pool area and choice of restaurants. I look forward to staying at the New Winter Palace again."

"We stayed in the 8 storey block overlooking the Nile with Nile view. Whilst it is a bit dated, the views are fantastic from the 8th floor, especially at dawn when all the hot air ballons rise up from the West Bank. The hotel is central to all amenities. The gardens are just superb.. an oasis in the middle of Luxor. The swimming pool area is stunning and is shared with the guests staying at the Old Winter Palace Hotel which is next door."

"We had only booked for one night and it was a very competitive price for bed and breakfast for 2. Whether there are 2 different quality rooms for differing rate cards I don't know, but the room we had was very "tired" and old fashioned and didn't offer things that I have come to expect from a 5 star hotel, such as a hairdryer in the room. The airconditioner was too loud to sleep through so had to be turned off.
The breakfast offered a buffet with "small" plates and watered down potatoes and scrambled eggs amongst other food.
The pool area was very nice though, which included showers in the pool toilets that were of a much higher quality than the one offered in our room."

"Staff were great, Views of the Nile fantastic... well worth upgrading to a Nile View.
Double bed springs were non existant, but room man found us a piece of wood - to no avail but at least he tried!!!!!
(Russian/Polish singer EVERY evening - was dreadful!!!! a change would have been nice but hey ho! that's EGYPT ) can't wait to go again Sofitel next time"

"Great location with one of the best views over the Nile you could get. The hotel is a little dated and tired looking but all the same I would go there again."

"Staff excellent and friendly, lovely garden and pool area
Fabulous views from rooms on upper floors overlooking the Nile.
Rooms could do with some refurbishment and a safety deposit box. Excellent large fridge though.
Only 2 rather small lifts which could be a nuisance at times."

"Reasonable rooms with full use of Old Winter Palace facilities. Excellend location near Luxor Temple. Middle Eastern restaurant very good value."

"Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and the location was great - very central. This hotel is highly recommended!"
