The main ski resorts in Bulgaria are:

  • Bansko - Bulgaria's top ski resort, having the best and most modern ski centres. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts. During the last couple of years this resort is under a massive investment process with new hotels and resort facilities being under construction. A brand new resort area with super luxury hotels and holiday apartments is being developed just opposite the Gondola lift, which looks like making Bansko the resort with the best hotels. Sofia is 170km away.


  • Borovets - the oldest Bulgarian winter resort. Borovets is the biggest and most modern resort. It is situated in pine woods 1390 metres above the sea level (with highest pistes at 2600 m), which makes it a perfect place for winter sports. The winter in the resort is mild and of course with loads of snow! The average temperature during the coldest month January is 4.8ºC. Usually the slopes of Borovets have snow cover from mid December until April. Sofia is just 72 kilometers away.


  • Pamporovo - Pamporovo is a modern ski resort in the heart of the Rhodopi mountains. It is one of the most southerly skiing resorts in Europe. It is the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole season. Pamporovo is situated on 1650 m above the sea level at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m). It is 240 km from Sofia.
