"The hotel was perfectly placed away from the crowds and close to the beach. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel was very clean and cleaning was going on in the background all day. The only thing missing was a hotel shop to buy nibbles, but this wasn't a big issue. We would definitely go to this hotel again."
Top Tip:
"Take an island tour, it's well worth the money. Be prepared to get dirty!"

"GOOD HOTEL AND SERVICE. GREAT BEACHES.
HOWEVER SAL, PARTICULARLY SANTA MARIA, IS A LARGE UNTIDY BUILDING SITE AT PRESENT. HOTELS, APARTMENTS AND VILLAS GOING UP BEFORE ROADS, STREET LIGHTING AND OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE PUT IN PLACE. BAGGAGE RECLAIM AT THE AIRPORT IS CHAOTIC AND ANTIQUATED. EATING OUT IS VARIABLE WITH THE FEW BETTER RESTAURANTS ON THE PRICEY SIDE, PARTICULARLY WINE WHICH IS AROUND 5 EUROS PER BOTTLE MORE THAN FOR THE SAME WINE ON THE ALGARVE"

"GOOD RESTAURANTS ARE A BIT SCARCE BUT, EVEN IF NOT PARTICULARLY CHEAP, CHEZ PASTIS (VERY SMALL) AND LEONARDOS IN SAL ARE WELL WORTH VISITING"

"The hotel was very good, the room was very clean. The choice in the restaurant could have been a bit more extravagant, as it was the same choice for lunch as for dinner."
Top Tip:
"There was a lovely local coffee shop in the centre of Santa Maria called Relax and in the evening they made homemade dishes. The Odja d'Agua hotel on the pennisular was very nice and the restaurant was packed every night. The setting for this hotel was fabulous."
