"The room we were allocated 'city view' was absolutely unacceptable with tatty decor, faulty aircon and all night noise from the street when you finally did drop off to sleep 5am prayers through loud speakers ensured you were awake again (ear plugs provided no barrier - it was that loud). Luckily the Med Hotels rep (Ahmed) and the hotel were fantastic and gladly moved us to a beautiful room. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and I cannot fault anything else. My complaint is more the lack of information regarding this, as if it was stated this was what city view meant I would have gladly paid a bit more to avoid this "

"Sofitel Karanak Hotel is a first class complex to just chill out and relax. Staff are excellent and helpful. Rooms are kept clean and tidy. The free shuttle bus between the Hotel and Luxor is a godsend and not only allows you to explore Luxor historical sites (The driver will drop you off at key sites), it also allows you to be taken to other types of venues (see top tip below). This is my third year in a row staying in the hotel and although I will go to another part of Egypt next year, I do plan to return to the hotel in next 3-4 years"
