Overall Customer Rating
(13 Reviews)"We went on a one week AI at the Glyfada Louis Grand. Took a taxi from the airport 30 euros. This hotel is classed as a 4/5 star and unfortunately it is may be a 3 star at best. However, the food was varied and good and plentiful. It was more geared towards german guests but that is no bad thing. Plenty of good salads, pasta dishes - we ate mostly vegetarian as the vegetables and salads were so tasty and their chips were delicious dipped in tatziki ! The outside of the hotel needed a bit of a makeover and inside is a blend of old and modern not quite achieving anything. Service into Corfu town is very limited and this is a big minus on days of bad weather as this hotel is not near any entertainment or shops and situated on the beach down a steep hill. Smoking was permitted in eating areas which was very off putting and sometimes smokers would share our table and start smoking - not nice. The bar staff were very very nice indeed and service very good. Good selection of local spirits and the beer is draft Loewenbrau. Free wine at dinner is watered down red and white, other wine available for purchase. If you got hungry between lunch and dinner there was hot dogs/burgers/pizza/ice cream available at the beach restaurant [we never went but some did !] We had room 732 which was on 7th floor, large room with double aspect sea view slideable windows. TV very limited indeed, BBC World news only english channel, no dvd facility. Bathroom nicely tiled and clean and shower is reasonable. All bit tatty though and need updating but fine for our purpose. There is some form of entertainment every night which is ok for some and kids. Pool area was clean and tidy, nice beach described as white sandy beach, it is sandy but not white. Free sunbeds in short supply and one had to beat the germans to the free sunbeds more sunbeds available on the beach at a cost. Main clientele is german/austrian, we met a lovely english couple with their young children, heard french and italian spoken a couple of times and a few brits around. All in all we had a good week, weather wasn't the best but that cannot be prebooked ! Would we go back ? No but would we recommend for families who don't want to do much else than pool/beach - yes."
