Overall Customer Rating
(5 Reviews)"This is the second visit to this hotel - returning because of the location, friendly staff (mostly) and overall good standard of accomodation. On this occaision, as before we found the welcome (as a returning guest) very special. The hotel is ideally situated for a brief (3-5 min) level walk into the restaurants and bars etc in Little Venice area of Mykonos town (which is very small, if you haven't been before) - so this is ideal - no trekking up and down the hills if you stay here. As I have indicated almost all the hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful - especially so at breakfast - and the management are diligent and customer focused. The only exception was one or two of the male staff members who were distinctly unhelpful and unfriendly towards us and another gay guy staying at the hotel on this occaision (we assume that they are not comfortable with gay guests - although this should not be an issue, especially on an island so rich in gay culture past and present). The hotel decor is funky (ish). The standards, when first first stayed 2 years ago raised the bar for Mykonos generally speaking - and other hotels (boutique style) have popped up now - so this Theoxenia will have to look at a making some updates and changes if it is to continue to compete as a boutique hotel. Whilst a little pricey now, I would strongly recommend paying to stay in the 'sea front deluxe rooms' - you have so much more space and of course a great private view. We stayed in a deluxe room for 7 days last time (no sea view) and this time we opted for the sea view deluxe rooms for our 8 day stay - and believe these are the best rooms at the hotel. I was surprised to see how VERY quiet the hotel was however - even allowing for the fact that we were there at the end of the season - there are 52 rooms and I estimated occupancy was only about 10-12 rooms. The same situation throughout the island apparently - maybe the impact of the credit crunch/downturn in the european economies or the failure if various airlines. Still, we will revisit this hotel on a future visit to the island, and enjoy their hospitality once again."
