This hotel is excellent value for money. The location is stunning in a peaceful area. Great for swimmers and walkers. Regular bus services go into Puerto Pollensa which is a busier resort. From there it is easy to take buses to other parts of the island if wished. The food is plentiful, fresh and varied, buffet style and there is something for most tastes. the evening entertainment is simple, quizzes, Karioke, bingo etc with a disco most nights for the energetic. However the noise does not permeate so there is no problem with getting sleep, if like me you like to go to bed early.
The staff are pleasant and helpfull with excellent English.
This was my second visit to the Don Pedro and I hope to go again at the same time next year.
If you like to walk I can recommend the walk from San Vicente to Puerto Pollensa and then into the Boquer Valley. The food in the hotel was so good that there was no need to find a restaurant nearby.
This hotel though ideally sited in a quiet resort overlooking an excellent beach is not worth the money being charged as it is lacking in too many ameneties for it to be truly a 4* hotel.( see my main critique on trip advisor. Although the hotel had excellent public rooms the rest of the hotel is of Spain of 30 yrs ago. Bedrooms require complete refurbishment, including beds that are narrow with firm to excess mattresses. Toiletries are minimal including toilet paper which is of the thinnest tissue. A small round of soap which is supposed to last 2 weeks,no hand tissues and no tea coffee making facilities.
As there is no room service available you have to take your own kettle. The chef is also preparing fare of 30yrs ago, bland and unappetising with a limited choice. Entertainment is meant to be provided on three evengs per week but we did not find that occurred. Coffee after dinner is served in a seperate lounge where you are charged for same. Local wine which is on sale in local supermarkets for 3, 4 or 5 euro's is costed at 14 to 16 euros whilst to buy a whisky at the bar is £5. Although all staff were great in attitude the hotel was almost empty ( 3weeks to end of season ) and this had already prompted staff shortages and food cutbacks. Sorry won't be revisiting.
Only the small beach which is excellent, nothing else I'm afraid
Room very small and sea-view supplement should not have been paid as only 1/3 view whilst 2/3 view was of the wall and over the swimming pool of the adjacent Don Pedro hotel and noisy residents ! Hotel in need of plumbing overhaul as water cold on two or three days. Restaurant food was good but expensive. Very steep hill down to hotel hence not suitable for elderly. No lift in hotel. Near to two good restaurants.
Restaurant Cala Bargues and Pedres excellent. Cala Molins was considered best beech 10 minutes walk from hotel.
