In the beauty spot stakes, Camp De Mar takes some beating. This quiet, horseshoe-shaped cove is surrounded by pine-topped cliffs and bright blue waters. And the beach here is all soft, pale sand.

Standing proud over this picture-postcard scene is the Grupotel Playa Camp De Mar. A Thomson favourite, guests come back here year after year. And while the setting is certainly spectacular and the beach gorgeous, that’s not the only draw. The hotel itself is lovely. Take the pool terrace, for instance. Peppered with sunloungers and parasols, it’s slightly elevated and so makes the most of those stellar sea views.

Very good but decour was bland. I think this would be geared towards older people. I was there to attend a wedding, for this reason it was fine. The resort is very quiet and would not be suitable for youngsters.

My only point would be the package, we thought we booked a beverage package along with half board. On check out we were told it was for drinks at meal time only, this was slighlty misleading. We neded to pay an additional 50 euros.

Top Tip The restauraunts near by we all very good and the beach was pleasant

We wanted a budget hotel for a one-night stay. Villa Real Hotel had no frills but was cheap and very clean and well-located in Camp de Mar. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good value!

Top Tip Would recommend the restaurant on the island (on the beach in Camp de Mar nearby)for an excellent, good-value breakfast or lunch.
