The hotel is sited a few minutes walk from the historic centre, close to bus stops, post office and other amenities. The location is quiet. Friendly efficient receptionists.
Rooms are a decent size. Clean, though they did not replace some defective light bulbs. The curtains keep out the sunlight. The heating is not that effective. Internal sound insulation is poor. TV has two English channels (Sky News and National Geographic). There is a room safe @ €2 per diem. Fridge for minibar. Nice glycerine soap, and liquid shampoo/shower gel only.
There is a small common lounge in the basement, under a large skylight, so it is bright in the daytime. There is free WIFI, and you can have access to an internet terminal: 15 minutes free per diem, or €3 per hour - ask the receptionist for a ticket (there is an internet cafe on the opposite side of the street and another in Calle Republica Argentina, which runs off the street on which the hotel is sited).
Breakfast is a decent buffet in a basement breakfast room, brighter than it sounds (next to the lounge): cereal, fruit, joghurt, bread, pastries, cheese.

The location of these 2 hotels is great. The view along the cala is pretty and the walk into the town along the harbour is very pleasant. The hotels are old and a bit tired, but were kept exceptionally clean and the rooms were spacious. The one star rating reflects this, but they represent good value for money if you can accept you will not be staying in luxury. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Menorca and would have no qualms about recommending the Cala Bona for an economy stay.
We found the bus service to be very reliable and went to Cala Galdana for the day. Well worth the trip. The Mirimar car hire firm over the road from the hotel were also good value and very helpful.
