This hotel was built in 1962 so by modern standards looks tired. It has undergone one refurb on the exterior but is due to another internally. The buffet breakfast is adequate but not of a high standard. Ask for upper rooms with a park view as the lower ones have a view of the stone retaining walls. However when lying in bed the view of trees and blue sky is much better. You should remember to take beach towels and a foam mat as sunbathing is done mainly on concrete platforms. The view of the bay from the hotel is fabulous and the access road to the hotel is quiet. There is a thrice hourly bus service to the gate (Pile) of the old town of Dubrovnik and it is the best way to go to the city. It costs 8 Kn each way. Last bus home is 2a.m. Take advantage of the pathway out to the Zoe restaurant on the headland on the right hand side of the bay. The Adriatic is one of five hotels in the road belonging to the Maestral group so one can try eating in all the hotels and the beach bars. The hotel is value for money with an efficient staff. If you want up market eating try the Dubrovnik Palace hotel at the end onf the access road or the Zagreb Hotel in Lapad

If you want some peace and quiet, then do not stay in the main central hotel building, as the Piano Bar adjoining reception plays live/loud music until 11:00 pm every night. Also lots of buses pull up outside and the drivers leave the engines running. The staff are very helpful and courteous, and they all speak english. Good buffet breakfast and evening meal.

Be carefull when you book this hotel as the Asterea 2 is actually the annex, this is seperate to the hotel and a walk from all the facilities & the rooms are not very nice. I booked rooms with a sea view for my wife and I and my parents, we were given 2 rooms on the bottom floor where you could only see trees! I complained and was told there was no more rooms but eventually did get the keys for another 2 rooms on the next floor up, again the view was of trees, after a long stand off in the reception and a few choice words we were given the 3dr floor rooms and these did have a sea view, I have stayed in better formula 1 hotels rooms than these. The hotel is very nice, clean and well staffed, we only had breakfast in the hotel & food we had there was good. Mlini is very nice with plenty of bars and restaraunts to choose from but please be aware there is lots & lots &lots of cats about.

Our room was described as "sleeps 3 adults". There was absolutely nowhere to put a third person. There were only two of us, so this was not a problem. Everything else was fine, friendly and helpful staff, food excellent. Be very careful when booking though that you are in the Astarea, and not the Astarea2. This is an annexe building 200 yards from the main hotel, and not so nice.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel Bozica. It was truly idyllic. The hotel is right on the edge of the Adriatic sea. The views are spectacular looking across to the island of Lopud. The food at the restaurant is amazing and very good value if you go half board. One evening there was live music which was excellent. There's no night life on the island of Sipan but it is an incredibly romantic and relaxing place to stay. We would love to return someday.

In the main the staff were really good and polite, although there were some breakfast staff who took the word grumpy to a new level! The hotel has two beautiful pools, and lots of pathways through their gardens and trees. Yes, as many people have commented , there are 127 steps up from the beach, but there are alternative routes through the gardens. The breakfast, buffet style, is very well presented and varied including chips, burgers and grilled vegetables! The view of Cavtat from the hotel terrace especially in the morning is one I will never forget, fantastic!

The hotel is really well situated just outside the Old Town and has its own bit of Adriatric Sea all to itself. Whatever you read, it doesn't have a beach - well not as I understand the meaning of the word anyway - it has a very well kept paved area with sun loungers and umbrellas and a swimming pool type entrance into the sea (steps in and out or plunge off the side). I loved it but don't go there if you are expecting sand! And if you don't like salty water, there is a pool inside the spa area as well! It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the Ploce gate and into the Old Town which is breathtakingly beautiful. I went with my teenage son and 21 year old daughter and there was something for all of us. One of the best holidays we've had.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and is therefore fairly modern. The rooms and bathrooms are nicely furnished but small. The food is ok but certainly not exciting. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is very beautiful and has an easy seafront walk to town which takes about 15 minutes. There is not a great deal to do in the town but it does have a few restaurants and places for coffee. The ambiance of the whole area is really lovely and very relaxing. The island of Korcula is opposite and looks beautiful in the mornings when the sun rises on the walls of the town.

We were quite happy with the Komodor hotel as we general just use a hotel as a place to have breakfast and sleep at night as generally off out for the whole day. As rooms are small and not suites I would say this hotel is unsuitable for those who wish to stay at a hotel all day rather than go out exploring. No sandy beaches around Dubrovnik itself so may be unsuitable for those who just want a 'beach' holiday. Would have to take a boat trip to one of the islands or further up coast for that. Overall we loved Dubrovnik and would recommend to friends.

The weather was lousy for most of the week unfortunately and affected our return travel plans (the ferry to Split did not run on our departure day due to storms) so we had to catch a 04.10 local bus to other end of the island and then get on car ferry to Split. Hotel reception staff were very helpful. Meals were all buffet style and had little variation which was somewhat disappointing. Wine with meal far too expensive!. Our room was good with a fabulous view over the harbour and old town of Korcula. Could not adjust the heating in the room though and were roasting. When we arrived at the hotel we were told our room numbers. My friend, Sue Hammond, had a single room on the first floor overlooking the sea. However, she had no bedside light, there was a pile of electric wires on the floor and the shower curtain was covered in mould and wasn't wide enough to stop the floor getting wet each time she had a shower. She did take a photo of the shower curtain and the wires. My room was on the third floor - there was no one to help with the cases so I had to lug mine to the third floor as there was no lift and my room was hideous - oppressive with dark furniture and the only outlook was to a man sitting on his balcony smoking. We went back to reception to say how unhappy we were with the room and the receptionist said they had a French party coming in and couldn't change my room as they would complain if given that one. To cut a long story short she did change my room and I had a better one, albeit a double, but at least it had more light and I could see the sea from the window at the side of the hotel. I thought the position of the hotel was excellent - that was the best thing about it. I didn't think a lot of the breakfast really but it was only a 2 star and maybe that's what you get. I've been reading that a lot of hotels were built in the communist times and Croatian hotels can be very basic - it would have been nice if we could even have made a cup of tea in our rooms but there were no facilities for that. Also there was nowhere to sit outside in the hotel area. If you wanted to sit on the beach you had to pay for a sun bed and if you wanted to sit at the front you had to buy a drink. It would have been nice to have been able to sit without having to pay to sit down. The photo of a bedroom on the internet was nothing like the room I had so I wonder who gets the better rooms or is it the luck of the draw! I really liked Mlini - it was peaceful and relaxing and the hotel position was excellent but a few more home comforts would have been appreciated.

Hotel clean and staff very friendly Beware the 'restricted sea view' rooms although very nice and in the main hotel, close to the main restaurant, the hotel laundry is on the ground floor and is very noisy (dryer) often running during the day sometimes beyond 7.00 pm. We complained and without too much hassle were moved to another of the hotels self-catering apartments with lovely sea view and outlook, great.
