Hotel Reviews for Havana

We have stayed at three different occasions in three different rooms at the Ambos Mundos. Whilst the lobby and public areas are maintained very well, the rooms, especially the bathrooms are not. The toilet flush wasn't working in two rooms, the bathtubs were leaking and basically flooding the entire bathroom. Instead of air - water came out of the aircondition in the bathroom and continued dripping all night long so that the bathroom had a wet floor in the morning. The breakfast is below average. From 09.30am there was just very little or no supply to stock up the buffet. Ham and cheese were out and the eggs were a poor quality. Service was lacking and very slow and only worked with tip. I stayed in other hotels in Havana in the old town, for less money and had a more satisfying experience. I would not return or recommend this hotel.

I love the Comendador and Valencia (which in effect function as one hotel). I've stayed there 4 times now. The staff are helpful, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms pretty good, in a non-standard way. It isn't like the big hotels in that it is a bit rough round the edges, but the quality of the experience is great. Feels more authentic than say teh Sevilla, and wonderfully placed for wandering round Old Havana (which is a much better bet than staying in Vedado).

Good, clean hotel for the price, by Havana standards. £54 per room for 2, per night, including breakfast. Rooms on the top floor have higher ceilings and some have a small balcony overlooking the street. Try the hotel house paella (15 CUCs per person), cheapest wine (18 CUCs per bottle).

of any hotel i've seen reviewed this one comes with the most extremes - we found it to be fine - big rooms, clean, staff friendly, we hired a safe key for 2 CUCs a day, breaksfast far better than expected - lots of juices, fruit, breads, eggs as well salads and veg - tho we always treated ourselves to a decent coffee somewhere once we got out, and pool on roof at 6th floor was great. views from all floors amazing, esp when sea was crashing over the wall. we always walked into town - about 15 mins, or to Verdado, about the same, always felt very safe, tho beware potholes in pavements.

Historic hotel but quite basic. Our 1st floor bedroom had no windows at all, like a dungeon. Breakfast was basic, rooftop bar is closed on Saturday and left luggage is charged extra. Good location though. We only stayed 1 night here, for the other 3 nights we stayed in a BedinCuba Casa Particular (rented an on suite double room in a private house nearby (200 meters right in old Havana). It was just as good and half the price. We also stayed in Varadero for 3 nights booked through TravelRepublic. It made a great 2 centre holiday (Havana city and Varadero beach. Took the Viazul bus (£7).

Breakfast choices was very limited. The satff was friendly. The location of the hotel was great. The room size was very good and the batroom could do with some modernisation.

Rooms are nice and the breakfast is good. Beware that there is a flamenco show each night in the restaurant downstairs at 9pm which last 1.5 hours. It's great, but noisy if you are trying to sleep.

The hotel was very attractive and very busy. Sadly they said they had not received our booking on arrival and actually failed to apologise when they found it the next day!! However we enjoyed our stay and the room was very pleasant.

Great location and views from the top floor terrace. Noisy Room (noisy neighbours and creaky bed). Tried to change currency at the front desk and the rate was dependent on the staff member, quite dodgy. Breakfast was fine.
