5 Star Akassia Swiss Resort Hotel in El Quseir
We had a fantastic time and the service of all of the staff was excellent. We couldn't fault the Akassia Swiss Hotel in any way.
4 Star Badawia Resort in Marsa Alam
I would like to thank everybody from the word Go!!! as this holiday was fantastic, its difficult to find anything to complain about, actually i can't find anything! the accommodation was great. i found everybody so friendly and helpful, first of all the head chef francesco is italian, ie a very proud man, (dedicated) the food was delicious!!! this resort/comlex has two restaurants, because it is a village within its self, perfect for a relaxing break, lots of sunshine and a refreshing breeze, and the entertainment is first class, although it is performed by mirco, fabio, alexandro and colleagues all italians, but the animation speaks for its self, we have never laughed so much in all our lives, my wife laughed untill tears ran down her face, p.s. when you go to the amphitheatre take a cushion from your chair outside your appartment to sit on. dont miss the shows they are great!!! especially mirco he is the most entertaining man i have ever seen!!!!
5 Star Brayka Bay Reef Resort Hotel in Marsa Alam
The Brayka Bay Hotel is in an excellent location with sandy access into a sheltered bay. It's star rating is somewhat excagerated. 3.5 stars is about right. Food excellent but the dining experience marred by a canteen like dining room. Rooms good, ours being only 20 feet fromthe beach in the Royal Wing. New building work immediately behind our room though. The hotel is outgrowing its dining facilities. The staff are friendly & helpfull. The medical facilities which we unfortunately had to use were on site & Dr Sady was friendly & attentive. The journey home was however marred by a 8.5 hour arrival delay at Manchester.
4 Star Cataract Marsa Alam Hotel in Marsa Alam
The hotel was really nice, and the pool was amazing. Food at the hotel was standard - not much variety. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody who is travelling from the UK as it caters for Italians. All the entertainment is in italian and there are no signs in english. We were the only 2 english people in the hotel for the whole week!! A nice hotel but not suitable for english couples or families!! However the staff were very friendly and helpful.
3 Star Cinderella Beach in Marsa Alam
Negatives first... We had no towels in the room upon arrival, and still didn't have any by the following night despite asking reception to sort it. Eventually resolved by telling our rep. We didn't have any hot or even luke warm water at all for the first half of the holiday despite repeatedly telling reception. Again, only resolved by speaking to our rep. Room is basic and gets uncomfortably hot unless you turn on the air con which sounds like a tank rolling through your room. Water in bathroom smells strongly of poo, we had to keep the bathroom door shut to keep the main room smelling alright. Don't know if this is because the area in general isn't well developed or what. Hotel is mainly full of German/Italian guests, and most of the English spoken by staff is basic. Food is pretty limited, have stayed in Egypt before and ate four meals a day but had to resort to buying £2 bags of crisps a few times to see me through when I didnt fancy rice and unknown brown meat again. We knew there would be a lack of things to do at night from the reviews we'd read but there is literally nothing around for mile upon mile! And we were advised against going to the nearest town El Quesir by our rep. And also against Marsa Alam which he said is just a collection of hotels and is over an hours drive away. Positives... The weather (which at the end of the day is what we went for, we knew not to expect much from a 3 star in Egypt). The two beaches are nice. Shallow water and snorkelling on both, saw some incredible fish. Pool area is decent enough. Drinks were fine, beer was nice, and spirits plentiful, didn't try any wine.
5 Star Dreams Beach Resort Marsa Alam in Marsa Alam
Weather in Marsa Alam good, but not excessively hot in late February. Great coral reef with easy and (mostly) supervised access from jetty for snorkling. Good boat trips to see dolphins etc. Excellent friendly service from hotel staff in restaurants, around pools, on beach etc. Food very acceptable, varied, plentiful and and at time excellent. Arrangements for meeting at Marsa Alam airport and transfer to hotel worked like clockwork. Thankyou Travel Republic, Thomson Travel and Dreams Beach Resort for a wonderful week.
4 Star Equinox El Nabaa Resort Hotel in Marsa Alam
Clean; comfortable; staff very pleasant and very helpful. Probably, at present, a hotel best suited to those wishing either a scuba diving holiday or sun and sand with no need for other diversions.
4 Star Flamenco Beach And Resort in El Quseir
It is a good quality hotel with better than average food. It is very isolated though and I would not recommend a visit to the local visit for any lone females- as I did as I got a lot of unwelcome attention.
4 Star Helioland Beach Resort in Marsa Alam
Overall the hotel was good but more like a 3 star. It is geared up for the majority who were Italians, especially the entertainment. The rooms were basic but of a good size, the shower was a small square cubicle. Not much choice on the telly. Room cleaned every day with clean towels. Majority of staff very friendly especially one called chocolate boy who was one short of a pack. Situated on the beach with plenty of sun beds with its own coral bay for snorkelling, however quite shallow in places. There was free snorkelling trips with chocolate boy over the reef if you wanted. It has a outdoor swimming pool but the water was cold in December. There is the TGI diving centre at the side of the hotel which i had several diving trips with. Restaurant pleasant, but i personally found the food very limited on choice, sometimes the food was warm. Water was free from the water dispensers, bottled water had to be paid for.

5 Star Iberotel Coraya Beach Hotel in Marsa Alam
Fantastic from start to finish. On arrival, welcomed with cool damp cloth and cooling non-alcoholic cocktail. Room was huge and spotless with fantastic view over the pools - Bougainvillia everywhere. The food wasnt just a buffet, it was a banquet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyone courteous and friendly. Tips not expected. However - as all inclusive is now €30 per person a day, you have to down an awful lot of booze, eat a lot of snacks and have loads of laundry.. That's over £28 a day - so for a couple that's an extra £392 a week!! Sadly the Hotel knows full well it is Number 1 in Marsa Alam and I think it is now getting greedy. Some friends of mine booked months ago, all inclusive at a much more reasonable £13 per day each, which is about right. 30 Euros is a rip-off!
5 Star Kahramana Resort Marsa Alam Hotel in Marsa Alam
Great hotel but chaotic mix of people on all inclusive, half board and bed and breakfast schemes, leading to much confusion. They probably need a more unified policy.
4 Star Marina Lodge At Port Ghalib Hotel in Marsa Alam
We choose this hotel because of 4 points: 1. other customer reviews were favourable. 2. 5 minutes from airport is a great plus. 3. Egyptian 'style' decor of rooms is appealing - you know you are in Egypt. 4. the in-house dive school Emperor We were happy with all the above apart from the treatment we got from the manager of the dive school - who was very unhelpful, rude, aggressive, and very negative. We had to find diving instruction elsewhere in another resort Corraya Dive centre - who were absolutely wonderful, very friendly, professional and good fun. We are making a separate complaint to the main office in Sharm el Sheik.
4 Star Moon Azur Resort Hotel in Marsa Alam
Food was very poor, at the start but they did improve it although still not what I would have expected. I have stayed there before but it has changed hands and therfore standards had droped although thery were trying to do the best to improve matters and the staff were working hard and did go out of there way to help. Had no problems wiith health though!! its such a shame as this Hotel could be really good as the location is fantastic and near to the Town so at least you can go and have a meal or visit a coffee shop and do some shoping I do hope they sort out there problems .....
4 Star Pensee Hotel in Marsa Alam
If you go to this hotel it is essential you book transfer to and from airport. We did not and found that there was one taxi firm at the airport who had the monopoly and wanted to charge us £50 to take us to hotel. We managed to haggle down to £30 but no fun being stranded at the airport. Shocked to discover at arrival at the hotel that it catered mainly for Germans. Nothing against Germans but no information available to find out what was the routine or what was happening. Fortunately on the third day another English couple arrived who lived in Switzerland and they made the holiday. We had a great time after that. Would recommend going into the desert on the quad bikes available from the beach and also the one hour horse riding. Its worth doing the snorkling but recommend ensuring they provide wet suites as the sea was very cold in February. Concerning the currency the Egyptians did not welcome the Egyptian Pound prefering the Euro. Im sure we lost out with exchanging English Pounds. Food at the hotel was very fussy and appeared to cater to the German palette but we were able to find something on offer to suit at mealtimes. The hotel was very clean and Egyptian staff very friendly. They certainly deserved their tips at the end of the week as they work such long hours and so diligently. On the whole a very enjoyable holiday.
5 Star Radisson Sas Resort El Quseir in El Quseir
Very nice, quiet, and relaxing. Not for people who want to shop or party. But for a relaxing secluded private holiday, fantastic! Make sure you have a look for the private beach for two at the front. Also don't bother with all inclusive, better halfboard then have your pick of where you want to eat, best to keep those options open!
5 Star Sol Y Mar Abu Dabbab Hotel in Marsa Alam
The above score is based upon us buying a 5* All Inclusive holiday that wasn't! No alchoholic drinks whatsoever, with only tea, coffee, Sprite, Coca Cola, Orange Fanta (non no-calorie) and all from a dispenser, plus water from a water cooler available (no bottles or cans of anything)! Hotel 99% Italians - the 3 of us were the only Brits. All entertainment in Italian, so evenings pretty dull, and there is litterally no-where to go outside the hotel. Food OK, but nothing special and Rameses had his revenge on all of us after 3-4 days with none of us daring to venture far from the loo for the rest of the holiday. Hotel is only 6 months old, so generally in decent condition - rooms good, and kept clean, decent beds, staff pleasant and helpful, but not speedy. Be prepared to wait. Good taxi service based at the hotel, but no-where to go apart from local dive sites (we were diving). They organised the transfers from and to Marsa Alam airport well and its less than 1/2 hour away so pretty painless. The 5* rating is presumably based on the range of facilities, not necessarily the quality of them. . There was no information whatsoever in English - not even a sheet of A4 giving meal times and a list of facilities. All a little disappointing.
5 Star Sol Y Mar Solaya Hotel in Marsa Alam
Great hotel but there was no other English people there. The majority of the guests were Italian. There was nothing to do other than stay in the hotel complex so if you want a totally relaxing time in a great hotel then this is the place for you.
4 Star Sol Y Mar Solitaire Hotel in Marsa Alam
We stayed in August, the staff had not seen any other Brits since January! All of the entertainment/ food/ kidsclubs/activities etc are geared for the Italians and a few Germans. The rooms are fine, the location very isolated, but we had a good time largely due to diving and snorkling on the fabulous House Reef and Global Divers excusions! If all you want is to sit by the pool or on the beach and chill then its Heaven!
