"This is our second stay in this hotel and we thought it had gone downhill a little. It is 3 star and we do not expect 5 star for this price, but restaurants never opened on time, food was wholesome but repetitive and it was very difficult to get booked for the a la carte restaurants. Some nights there was a queue for food that was unacceptably long. Drinks were disappointing - too reliant on sugar syrups and sweet artificial mixes. Decent brands apart from rum were charged extra. Staff were pleasant and friendly but it seemed that it was at management level that things fell down. There was rarely any hot water from late afternoon till evening - this was the case 18 months ago so they have had time to address this and haven't. Otherwise rooms were adequate and cleanw with balcony. Ours was at the back and we appreciated being quiet when the entertainment was on in the evening and we wanted an early night. Were wakened early - around 5.30am to a dog barking chorus!! Having said that, we had a good week here, enjoyed the wonderful sea and small beach. Lots of families obviously having a good time. It was value for what it cost, but would not return to this hotel. There are lots better. Hotel got very busy as lots of people demanded to be moved from Sandy Bay Beach Club which they said was awful!"

"Allamanda is a small hotel, there are 50 rooms and an average sized pool. The staff are friendly especially Joyce and Rochelle! The bar is always full, from guests to workers from the cruise ships downtown. Rooms are well kept and always looked after. I stayed in a studio with sea view. Room was nice but the stairs were a killer. They need to have a lift but thank God for the porters who are always happy to assisit you. The food in the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and they have a cocktail night on a thursday. the hotel is close to St Lawrence Gap and all the night life. Also a short walk from Rockley beach and Carlisle Bay beach. You can catch a bus to town right outside the hotel to the city (Bridgetown) where all thae shops are, and busses going to Oistins ( fishing town) where they have fresh fish. On a friday they have bands and a street party down there. You can also find Miami Beach there which is one of the best beaches I have been to. At the hotel they are always happy to assit you with events or tour bookings that you may be interested in. They have a larger sister hotel called the Amarryllis which is a 15 min walk or you can catch the taxi service to the hotel which is free. You can use the facilities in this hotel which include a gym, swimming pool etc. They also have fun nights there too. This hotel is also close to Harbour Lights a top night spot where they have fire eaters and cockytail nights... a must see!!!! I had a wicked time and I am looking forward to going back next year. "
