Craig from Stevenage reviewed the Calimera Royal Diamond Beach Hotel
"Overall this hotel was absolutely fantastic. Older people however may find parts of the hotel difficult to negotiate due to the number of steps and hill gradient to and from the beach. The staff were warm and friendly and would go out of their way to help in any way they could. I am actually having great difficulty finding something negative to say about this hotel. I would definitely recomend this hotel. Even though it is not very close to other restaurants and entertainment everything can be found a very short and cheap taxi ride away, which incidently the hotel staff can arrange/book for you.
Definitely the place to go if you want to be treated like royalty and like the relaxing atmosphere that this hotel provides. I would also like to comment on the fantastic service we received from the doctor that we needed when my son became ill. There is a clinic on the hotel site and even when my son had to be referred to a specialist we found that he also attended the hotel rather than us having to travel out. superb service alll in all it was just a shame that my son became ill in order for us to find out. Still had an extremely enjoyable holiday though."
Top Tip:
"My top tip would be to tip! We found that just by tipping 'one british pound' every now and again meant that the service that we received in hotel bars and restaurants was second to none. A very small amount of money to us means an awful lot to the people in egypt. "

"On arrival hotel greated by a well informed customer service representative. Explained all you needed to know in a speedy manner. Hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff were excellent. Rooms were well equiped and the cleaning staff went to a lot of trouble to maintain a high standard with beatiful flowers and towel animals on our beds every night.
As scuba divers we found the house reef to be terrific although Camel Diving (On site Dive Centre) were not the best we have used in Egypt.
Only down side for a UK resident was lack of entertainment in English. The hotel was prodominatly Italian and my 15 year old daughter found it very hard to communicate and find other UK people to talk to. There is very little evening entertainment, no disco for teenagers etc. but they did have the traditional belly dancers.
The food was of a high standard and all alcohol was readily available. As an all inclusive hotel it is one of the better hotels we have stopped in. The hotel grounds are well kept and well established for a new hotel.
All in all the hotel is a 5* and we thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks.
As for booking it through Travel Republic they were simply terrific, from booking on the internet all resport hoppers were professional and on time so I would recommend booking through you in the future.

"good value hotel in a great location. Not suitable for anyone who has walking difficulties due to the fact the hotel is on a cliff and there is a number of steps to get upto the main reception and restraunts.
Caters for mainly italians but we never found this to be a problem. Grounds, pools and rooms kept very clean.. Not much of a beach but the sea life more than made up for the lack of sand.
Food fine and always found something we fancied to eat. Good staff who work hard to keep all the guests happy without looking for constant tips. Spa staff do go around everyday trying to get you to book treatments but a polite no thankyou and they leave you alone. The spa is realy good but not cheap. I paid £70 for a 2 and a half hour program which was well worth it.
Indian restraunt you pay extra for but at 15 euros per person for a 5 couse meal was well worth it. Great food with the best naan bread i have ever tasted.
plenty of sunbeds both around the pools and on the beach but you have to get there early to get the best spots.
There is a dress code of long trousers in the restraunts for men which is enforced."
Top Tip:
"try the indain restraunt on the roof terrace. Lovely food with beaufitful views over Tiran Island.
Have a shish at the roof terrace bar only 10 le (about £1) and a number of different flavours to choose from. My favorite was mint."

"We paid for the Royal Diamond but stayed in the Grand Sharm? Both hotels were above average for cleanliness, the food at the Roal Diamond was ok you could find something to eat, however they can't make chips! Pasta was the main staple due to the fact this is hotel which is PREDOMINATLEY ITALIAN. The food outside the main buffet restaurant is well above average. The BBQ beach restaurant when we visited was not great. The Indian Restaurant is well worth as visit but starve all day due to the amount of food you get - starter, soup, snack (huge kebab) main meal with rice and nan dessert then tea or coffee and very reasonably priced around £30.00 english for 2 people. The must be at least 7 pools not all with bars but the Grand Sharm do have a pool service which the Royal doesn't offer! They also have a chap who goes round the pools to clean your sunglasses as well as reading glasses. All staff very friendly (DO NOT ASK A GREEN OR A PINK SHIRT ANYTHING - THEY DONT DO ANYTHING THEY JUST WALK ABOUT & BARK ORDERS AT THE LADS WHO DO NOTHING BUT WORK). No probs with spa staff as stated in other reviews. Always loads of sunbeds available even late morning & we were there from 4th -18th Aug! Tip staff 20 egyptian (roughly £2.00) goes a long way."
Top Tip:
"TGI Fridays is V expensive for cocktails same price as back home, they use local spirits not branded ones, snorkelling good at both hotels, take your money with you and exchange out there, much better rate than the travel agents back home. Visit to St Katherines Monestery was good but take travel sickness tablets as all egyptians lose all sanity behind the wheel of a vehicle - white nuckle ride. Sunset cruise with WINGS was ok but a bit over priced £35.00 each. Dinner was included but no alcohol offered with dinner just juice or water."
