  • "Hotel is situated close to Marina with its bars and restaurants. Also very close to the beach. Everything is within walking distance. Idea central location, not sure if location idea for golfers as golf courses are away from seafront.

    The Algamar Hotel doesn't have a reception and you have to cross the road to get your keys. Which we didn't know about when we arrived as wasn't on documentation provided by Travel Republic. As we arrived late it was a bit annoying to have to phone to find out this information. Also as reception closed had to wait to get keys.

    Probably a good idea to phone ahead to inform hotel when you are arriving and to find out how to get keys.

    Other than that - hotel was as expected - basic but sufficent for our needs."

  • Top Tip:

    "The local club is found in the casino across from the hotel. When we were there it was open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. As you are in portugual the club doesn't open until 2am so expect late nights. Also club is very expensive so get your drinks in before going...it cost 20 euros each night which includes 2 drinks. If you want more drinks then it will cost 20 euros to get 4 drink vouchers. Club was enjoyable though."

  • "These apartments look to be fairly old but were clean, had everything a self catering holiday needed and was in a good location. There was some noise from people coming in at the early hours but not too bad. The swimming pool was slightly shaded but I would certainly go there again for a budget holiday."

  • Top Tip:

    "There is a great chinese resteraunt near the marina ( where the barriers are ) excellent food at good prices. Have a walk along the sea front towards quartier and go into the small fruit and fish markets."

  • "The apartment was clean and comfortable and the cleaners came in five days while I was there - I was not expecting that.

    The reception staff were very helpful and would go the extra mile to ensure your requests actioned."

  • Top Tip:

    "The restaurant Akvavit on the marina was wonderfull. We went there for lunch a couple of times either in the main restaurant or in the a coverd decking area over looking the water. The service was good and the food better. In the evening the main restaurant serves a la carte food which looks as good as it tastes. I would recommend the lamb!"

Nearby, there is a hairdresser and within the area of Vilamoura, there is a tennis school, riding centre and a choice of many championship golf courses. The nearest water park is in Quarteira, Aqua Show, this is open 9 months and is a 10 minute taxi ride away.
