"The Apex was an excellent hotel, very good value and very good for families. The location is excellent for tourists in Edinburgh- central but not too noisy at night."

"Overall an excellent stay. Great value."

"Hotel was great we stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was excellent, you are seated and brought tea or coffee and toast, you can choose what you want from the continental breakfast, cereals, fruit, bread, pastries, fruitjuice etc. and also order from the menu, full cooked breakfast or an omlette or pancakes or belgian waffles etc. but the breakfast would be quite expensive if it is not included in your rate. The rooms are big and very clean with a queen size bed, tv and dvd player. There is also complimentary water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits left in the room. The hotel also has a range of dvds you can rent but it is £3.50 per dvd and there isn't much to choose from. The hotel is situated in a good area near plenty of bars and lots of novelty shops."

"This hotel was fantastic, rooms were not large but perfectly adequate, fantastic view of the castle and 4th and 5th floor rooms had balconies. I emailed to ask for a room upgrade and received a balcony as big as the room with first class views onto the castle. The location is fantastic with a good range of pubs and restaurants very close by. The breakfast is fantastic couldn't ask for more. In the room you are provided with free bottled water, pringles, jelly beans (the expensive ones), cookies all free each day. The room has slippers and dressing gowns and free access to the sauna and pool downstairs. Overall a fantastic holiday and hotel."

"Had requested a quiet room. Allocated room 2051. Car park outside window. Each night we were woken at around 5am with recycling bins being emptied ie lots of bottles!!. Also road works early on. Plus a very noisy toilet every time it was flushed - the latter was reported on Sat but no-one came to look at it until Monday 10am. Slope outside window for residents to take their luggage to car park - again noisy.
Went out Sat evening at approx 11pm, switched off all room lights to come back around 2am to find all the room lights were on - reported next day but only explanation was that the change of staff may have gone in to room to check if toilet had been dealt with - albeit, we weren't but most people are asleep by 11pm and what could they have done at that time anyway???
Breakfast was always a queue and on Monday they had run out of stock.
Also, the mirror needs to be fitted beside the hairdryer."
