Channings Hotel Summary:

This classical, sophisticated hotel was recently crowned Edinburgh's Hotel of the Year. Guests of this establishment will spend a beautiful, peaceful stay in one of the city's best hotels. The building was adapted from 4 terraced houses dating from the late Victorian period, today it comprises a total of 46 rooms, of which 5 are suites, spread over 5 floors. In addition to a 24-hour reception desk, the hotel includes a salon-style lobby where guests may relax. A lively bar and 2 restaurants are also on hand and room and laundry services complete the range of services offered. The hotel houses an exhibition of some pieces of memorabilia relating to Sir Ernest Shackleton. All room are non-smoking since December 2005. The rooms are offbeat, but elegant and classically decorated. "The hotel was very nice and staff couldnt do enough for you , and the food was excellent. The down side is the hotel is in a residential district and is a good 10 - 15 min walk to princess street, if you have walking difficulties , not a good choice has there is nothing near to the hotel , we found it to be very isolated , taxis very expensive ."

"if you stay here go and visit dean village and the waters of leith they are quite near to the hotel , its worth a visit"
