"did not stay at that hotel, it was over booked. when we got there we were informed that the hotel had spoken to our agent and was assured we would be notified we had been transferred to another hotel, The George Hotel, Edinburgh. We were not informed and humped our case from the station on foot to the hotel. This was an uneccessary journey as the George Hotel is much closer to the station. The Royal Tce however booked us a taxi free of charge and we were taken to the George Hotel.
We were booked in very quickly and I and my husband were looking forward to relaxing for a short while. When we entered the room it was so small not unlike a large cupboard it was not acceptable, we went down to reception to complain. We did get another room but not for another 4 hours, it was on the sixth floor and right next to the lift, which was most annoying. I do appreciate the hotel was very busy, but the Royal Hotel had said we would have a nice room at the George, I cannot say this was so and was disappointed with the hotel service we recieved, even my breakfast was cold."

"We actually never stayed in the hotel and had a rather unpleasent experience with our booking. After spending more than 6 hours in the train we arrived to the hotel to find that they had cancelled/deleted our reservations. We had specifically chosen this hotel due to the facilities (swimming pool and sauna) and the Georgian style. At least the hotel organized our stay in another hotel, a standard modern hotel with no atmosphere close to the city centre. Due to illness one of our group couldn't travel and we only used 5 out of 6 reservations but no discount was offered. I cant understand why the hotel (or Travel Republic) didn't contact us to tell that there was problem with our reservation.
Very dissapointed!"

"Fabulous hotel in a gorgeous part of central Edinburgh - a short walk to the centre, but just far enough away so that it was absolutely silent at night. Hotel was very clean and tastefully decorated. Room was a great size with all the expected mod-cons and overlooked the gorgeous, well maintained gardens. This hotel would make a beautiful location for a wedding.
On a downside the pool was very small and the changing facilities could have been cleaner (surprisingly as the rest of the hotel was spotless). The waiting staff also seemed to suffer from short term memory problems - gave us asking for toast at breakfast time. These are very minor points and the other plus points of this hotel far outway them.
Would definitely go back to the Royal Terrace Hotel."

"The hotel was very nice and clean and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast were good and well catered. I enjoyed the use the of the swimming pool and health suite that was available to use."
