"The hotel was better than expected after reading various reviews, although I agree that it is more 3 star than 4. Food was ok and always found something to our liking. 15 minutes walk into Alvor centre wasn't a problem. The hotel wasn't very full when we stayed and would imagine bar area and restaurant to struggle when full. One problem was the paper thin walls dividing rooms."

"Not near to the beach but there is a hotel bus schuttle into town and to the beach.
Very clean, good service."

"Food was plentiful, varied, and well cooked. The coutesy bus into Alvor and the beach was a necessity, however, it could have been more frequent and larger in size. The value for the price paid was excellent and the staff were helpful and courteous. There is an excellent room arrangment where there is a family grouping, as two rooms can be locked off from the main corrider, whilst still retaining an internal hallway where rooms can be locked off from one another as and when required. Good value"

"Thank you it was the third time we have been with travel republic and recieved the same high standard"

"On the whole we were fairly happy with this hotel. I do think it's really a three star standard though. It was very clean, the pool area and gardens were well looked after and very quiet. This was September after all! Definitely request a room overlooking the gardens. Our room and bathroom were a good size and the sheets and towels were changed almost very day.The reception staff were always very helpful. A quiet seating area would have been appreciated as there was nowhere to get away from loud music or the television showing football all the time in the bar. However, the dining room is a real let down! There did not seem to be a manager to check room numbers or supervise the mostly very miserable staff. Anyone could have walked in to eat as long as they didn't try to order a drink, when you were asked for your room number. Not one member of staff attempted to show you to a table or even make eye contact, say hello or raise a smile. The food was actually quite tasty if one tried it but it was so unattractively presented a lot of guests wouldn't try it. Even though we were on half board we ate out on four occasions to get a feeling of being welcome somewhere."

"Excellent pool, we were there peak period however no problem finding sun-beds - set in lovely surroundings, formerly 9-hole pitch-and-putt golf area, lots of grass, ponds, birds (especially egrets), not overlooked by other buildings (try hard to get a room on pool side of building!). Not really 4 star, but good 3 star. We were half-board, not great choice in food but we were never stuck (only ate out one night in eleven!) and what there was was pretty good (great desserts!). Very reasonable drink/wine prices (bottle of decent house red for 9 euros, others for 10/11/12/18 euros). Modest entertainment 4 nights per week in quite small bar, pleasant if unexciting! Room fine, small balcony, staff friendly and helpful, good pool bar. Lots of kids, noisy at times, avoid school hols if that bothers you! Excellent value as far as we were concerned."

"The pool was excellent and the rules laid down by the hotel were in the main followed"

"Fabulous location you will not be disappointed if you book this hotel"

"Hotel was good but not quite 4*. The restaurant let the hotel down the food was ok but a bit repetative over 2 weeks and limited in choice. Hotel very relaxed and peaceful you could get a sun bed any time. We liked the fact there was no clubs or activities by or around the pool. Rooms good size and quiet at night. Overall we had a good time. It is about a 15 minute walk to the old town where the bars and restarants are, and there is a good choice of places to eat and drink.
Warning the hotel is a nightmare to find when you first arrive the location that appears on the maps is not where the hotel is. As you enter Alvor from the north you must turn left by the campsite towards Qunita Nova and the Hotel is at the back of an apartment complex (sorry cannot remember name now!)"

"Hotel was very clean and thought was an adequote 3 star, not 4 star. We booked for B&B and the breakfast was not very good or varied, i.e. not enough fresh fruit options, orange juice was waterdowned squash etc etc. The hotel was a good 15 minute walk into the town and the beach was a further 10 minutes from the town. A cab back from the town was only 4 Euros excluding tip if you are feeling lazy. A good bar was Dicey Reilly's in the high street on the way to the harbor. Pints og Guiness were good and Rose wine very reasonably priced."

"Quite a good hotel.
Nice large rooms and clean.
Lifts not working. I was on the fourth floor and felt sorry for the rest.
Very central to the harbour.
Staff were terrible all round, especially at breakfast. Bad service.
Perfect for Golfers due to location."

"we thought the iberotel alvor was excellent for our relaxing break in march 2008 which we are just back from.
we only stayed b&b but were more than happy with our breakfasts(but you have to take into consideration that the bacon & sausages are not the same as in the uk) there was plenty choice of cooked breakfast cold meats/cheese cereal croissants yoghurts & fruit etc.
it was at least a ten to fifteen min walk to the main centre of alvor villiage but throughout our 8 day stay we did not feel we needed to get a taxi either way, but i'm sure if you have walking difficulties etc then a taxi will be required, there is a regular hotel bus that will take you to alvor centre/beach throughout the day but the last one leaves the hotel at 5pm.
we had lower floor pool facing room which was great there is an indoor pool sauna/steamroom and a room with table tennis & table football.
there is a pool bar but due to it being out of season this was not open but you could get from the bar in the hotel.
all in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definately go back to the hotel in the future.
would like to say that this was the first time using travelrepublic for flights, transfers and hotel and found them to be excellent and everything went as planned.
andie & joyce muir fife"

"First let me say booking my holiday with Travel Republic was an excellent experience, Top marks Travel Republic. The Iberotel should not have 4 stars, I would give it 2 stars, Location 5, Grounds and outside 5, Inside in need of decorating, Hall way carpets dirty 2, Meals luke warm 2, Entertainment 1, So overall the hotel in my opinion should not have 4 stars, Having said all this I will certainly book through Travel Republic again, Thanks for excellent service."

"a very enjoyable stay, great facilities, friendly staff, good quality breakfast, shuttle bus to centre of alvor and beach."

"Some noise from neighbouring hotel untill 11 at night. Rooms situated on pool side of Iberhotel quieter. Lift did not seem to work in evenings! Bar staff un-motivated to serve at bar tables + excessive smoking in Bar. No pool towles supplied, you had bring your own or purchase them at 15$"

"the hotel was nice and clean and modern etc but i felt it did not meet the 5 star rating. There was not enough staff in the hotel, for example on most days there was one bar man who covered the indoor bar and the pool bar."

"My wife and myself really enjoyed our stay at the Iberotel in Alvor. We traveled with our 6 month old son and the staff of the hotel couldnt do enough to help us, they were truely great. This was our third trip to the Algarve and we both agreed we would go back. If I go again I will certainly check out Travel Republic again."
