Marion from MALVERN reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"Should be called the Pyramid Paradise Isis! Absolutely fantastic hotel, 2 lovely large pools, large clean rooms, very good air conditioning with variable temperature control.
The ferry boats to and from the island run every 15 minutes and provide a very relaxing interlude when returning from Aswan town (this is a free service).
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any travellers."
Top Tip:
"We ate at the Aswan Moon (no alcohol) - quite good food. Wouldn't necessarily rate the Chef Khalil restaurant recommended in the Lonely Planet.
We drank in the Emy on the Corniche with great views of the Nile and the Cruise boats."

MASASHI from LONDON reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"When I tried to check in, the hotel didn't hold our reservation, even though I gave them a confirmation, they asked me if I had paid. What is more, we were very tired but they kept us waiting for a while at reception. We felt really unpleasant. The room was quite big and clean, but the food which I ordered as a room service was terrible."

Anne-louise from Winchester reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"Staff could not have been friendlier. Food was average but the location is beautiful in the middle of the nile and the grounds well kept. The hotel was spotless and it was a lovely place to spend a few days. There are many outside terraces and a fab bar right by the water. My rate included free transfers from the airport. The gentleman who came to collect me even came over to the hotel on the boat with me and checked me in which I was grateful for as it was 1am. I organised my tours through Aswan with him and he even sorted out a problem I had with another tour company. He could not have been more helpful. The local company that the transfer is organised through is Tarot Tours. There was no representative from Thomas Cook at the hotel - strange for Egypt, so it would have been difficult to have arrange anything without going to Aswan itself."
Top Tip:
"Use Tarot Tours."

Tris from Bath reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"The Pyramisa Isis has the reputation as Aswan's best hotel (at least while the Cataract Hotel is closed for renovation). If this is the case the others must be pretty bad. Much of the hotel decor is faded seventies and the rooms are basic and poorly equipped. Despite having several restaurants, the food choice is limited and the centrepiece buffet is poor. Food and beverages are over priced and, being 15 minutes from town, it is not easy to seek other options. Finally the staff were unhelpful and were visibly put out if a tip did not meet their expectations. All of this is a real shame, because the Isis Island setting is idyllic and Aswan is a fantastic place."
Top Tip:
"The Nubian House bar, on a hill on the East Bank of the NIle, is beatiful for watching the sun go down."

"The site of the hotel is very beautiful surrounded by lush vegetation and beautiful birds. The hotel is not truly 5 star requiring updating but represents good value for money. The all inclusive was very worth while. Overall the hotel has a friendly atmosphere and we found the free WFI acess very useful. The fact that the hotel is on an island is not a drawback as the hotels free boat shuttle service left every 15 to 20 minutes running all day and night. Aswan is warmer in winter and does not suffer from strong winds."
Top Tip:
"Do visit the Nubian Museum funded by UNESCO ten minutes away from the ferry"

Irene from Cupar reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"Excellent hotel for those watching their budget, yet not compromising in value for money. Good rooms, excellent food (we took half-board) although the breakfast was a bit hit-or-miss! The management did all they could to make us welcome and we didn't feel that, as independent travellers, we were less favoured than the tour groups with more 'clout'! Good location, too. We have been to Luxor before and have stayed in larger and more expensive hotels..and we did so again this trip..but even so, the 'Emilio' is one we would recommend wholeheartedly, despite the little breakfast glitches....and at a terrific price!"

Gillian from Trowbridge reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"We were allocated a lovely quiet room with a view of the Nile and Old Catarract Hotel (slightly obstructed by trees) at far end of the island with a nice balcony although it only got sun on it till 10am. If you want a sunny balcony, i suggest you request it on check in - tho in summer, you'd probably be grateful for the shade.
Breakfast buffet served till beyond 10am was fantastic and plentiful.
Heated pool v warm and attendants v attentive to every need - they appreciated receiving their tips (1 Egyptian pound equals 10p so it hardly breaks the bank to spread around the baksheesh - hoard your E1 notes as they come in really handy for every little service imaginable!).
Waiting for the free hotel ferry required patience at times and wrap up warm in winter as Nile can be breezy at night. But the views are lovely as you wind your way thru the islands to get to the East Bank landing stage which is opposite Egypt Air. The little "zoo" on the island is worth a visit with its flamingoes, gazelles and baby lambs and goats."
Top Tip:
"Lonely Planet guide book is essential reading and gives helpful guidelines on how much to pay for fellucas, kaleches (horse and carriage), taxis etc. One afternoon we took a felucca trip from the hotel jetty to the landing stage of St Simeon's Monastery and the guys waited for an hour or two before bringing us back to hotel - we negotiated E35 - that's about £3.50 (between 2 of us). We also hired 2 camels to take us up the steep desert track to the Monastery for the same cost. The Monastery closed at 4pm so we didn't go inside (would have cost E20 pp) but the views of the sand dunes and Aswan in distance are great from up there so we didn't mind. By getting the felucca we avoided being 'ambushed' by the helpful locals on Elephantine Island (where you could actually catch a public ferry for a mere 10p) but we enjoyed the sailing experience v much.
Learn the Arabic words La Shukran - no thank you - to help you fend off the assertive taxi drivers and souk merchants but remember they are only trying their hardest to earn a living in the best way they know how. Average wages are £60 per month which is why your taxi driver may well also work as a teacher or Xray techinician or why the masseur at the hotel pool is a trained physio but can;t affrod to live on a hospital wage.
Be prepared to barter for everything - even bottled water - it cost E8 at the hotel for a large bottle but you can get it for E3 in the town, so stock up! Similarly cans of soft drinks.
We caught a taxi back to Luxor for E250 (between 2 people) - as we experienced some delays using train on the way down tho that only costs E26 pp to travel first class and it gives you a good insight into local life. HOwever you need to ensure you join on e of hte pocie convoys - we caught hte 2pm one.
We paid E8 for a taxi from train station to hotel ferry landing stage when we arrived tho probably could have got it for about 6.
We ate at Panorama on Corniche - try the Arabian coffee! Biti pizza near the station - be brave, ask for the Egpytian version of pizza rather than Italian style -delicious - esp the fruit ones for dessert! Think we may have got bad stomachs at Aswan Moon (Corniche). Were impressed with the burgers from room service one night when we were late back from market. Al Masra restaurant serves basic Egyptian set meal and is popular with locals and tourists. Service was a bit rushed but food was good. Eating at the places mentioned above - none of which serves alcohol i'm afriad - meant that we got filling, tasty, Egyptian fare for two people for under an English tenner, including a tip."

Susan from Leeds reviewed the LTI Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel
"Superb location. Friendly, helpful staff. Great atmosphere. The guests were a nice mix of nationalities and mostly pleasant and friendly. Good weather. Excellent views of the Nile and Aswan from my balcony. Wild camels grazing across the river, huge variety of birds and wildlife. Good fun transferring to Aswan using the hotel boats. Escaped monkey added to the entertainment, apparantly it has been evading capture for some months now. Nice walks round the island, lots of places to stop and watch the world go very slowly by. People about, but it was alwasys possible to find quiet spots to relax away from the crowds. Hotel a little tired and in need of some TLC in places. Well worth a visit."
Top Tip:
"Make sure you take some warm clothing. Early mornings and late afternoon/evenings can get rather chilly. Particularly on the boat transfers. (18th - 25th Dec 2006) Try booking the train to transfer from Aswan to Luxor, £3.50 1st class. You get to see the real Egypt during the 3 and a half hour journey. Air conditioned too."
