"Despite requesting a superior room when booking, when we arrived the room we had actually booked was a classic room and there was no availability to upgrade. The first room we went to had a terrible fusty smell and was very hot. The smell became unbearable after we left the aircon on to cool the room down while out for dinner. We were eventually moved to an alternative room. The bed wasn't very comfortable. What I will commend is the staff, pool and location. If you want a few hours of peace overlooking the med and don't mind paying 10 Euros for the trouble... This is the spot. I would make sure you get a superior room though."

"Short walk to Old nice which has an abundance of great restaurants."

"After reading numerous reviews that were negative about this hotel I really was fearing the worst. Wow! How wrong can you be. The room we had was a deluxe room and was fabulous; comfortable beds, fab shower, clean, roomy and a flat screen TV. The hotel has undergone a major refit and if you can look further than the purple corridors then you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you can book bed & breakfast as eating anywhere except McDonalds is expensive. Breakfast is an American buffet, plentiful and hot and the staff don't rush you with a great sea view. Lots of appetising pastries and unblemished fresh fruit. A downside is that reception is on the 1st floor accessible by escalator only, which if you've a pushchair and children to handle gets to be a pain. Reception staff are very helpful. Hotel location is excellent, half way along the promenade and only minutes from the main restaurant area and shopping malls. The tourist train and bus stop outside the hotel and are a great way to get your bearings. If you ask at reception for a flyer you'll get a 2 euro voucher for the bus. Train and bus go in different directions so you get to see 75% of Nice."
Top Tip:
"Top tip - don't biy individual glasses of wine. If there are 2 of you order a half caraffe for the same price with twice as many glasses. A fabulous pasta restaurant to try is in Dolpasse Street - IL Vino - great host, great food and very reasonably priced. Fancy fish or meat same street but as you look at Il Vino walk left down the street to the next corner and it's across the road. Can't remember name but mains and desserts are excellent."

Location

The bedrooms are of a medium size and are all very tastefully decorated in light harmonious colour schemes. Rooms and bathrooms are in very good condition.

The hotel has two restaurants. The indoor restaurant is decorated in a contemporary style in a black and grey colour scheme. Large windows offer a view of Promenade des Anglais and the seafront. The other restaurant is on the rooftop.

This is a nine-storey, modern building.

For the health and beauty conscious, there is an excellent health club and beauty parlour. The heated swimming pool is located on the rooftop. This is a very good hotel offering very good facilities. ( 0708/ss )
