"Hotel was very clean & room was spacious - however the cooking facilities are very limited so not the best self-catering option. Staff were friendly and the best thing is it is literally on Mounda beach - beautiful views, good swimming and lovely sunsets."

"You could not get closer to the beach if you tried! Gorgeous views from every room. The room we had was massive and always very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful...however if you eat at the restaurant beware you will not be given a menu, just the waiter's mum's special...although it was very tastey. Best hotel I've stayed in for a long time. However it is a way out of town so will cost you 6 euro's each way in a taxi. Can walk into town along beach/rocks in day but not at night. If you want a gorgeous relaxing quiet hotel this is the one for you!"

"End of season, very quiet - just what we wanted! We have stayed there before, so we knew what to expect. It's on the beach; every room has a sea view and WOW, what a view!"

"We were looking for a relaxing and quiet hotel. The Marina Bay Hotel was perfect."

"WE REQUESTED 2 ROOMS NEXT TO EACH OTHER WHEN BOOKING WITH YOU AS WE HAD ELDERLY PARENTS WITH US SO NEED TO BE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THEM. ON ARRIVAL THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AND WE WERE LUCKY THAT THE HOTEL OWNER REARRANGED TO FULFILL THIS REQUEST - HE SHOWED US THE BOOKING FORWARDED TO THEM BY YOU AND THIS REQUEST WAS NOT SHOWN. THIS HOTEL IS QUITE ISOLATED SO UNLESS YOU HIRE A CAR OR USE TAXIS ( 12 EURO ROUND TRIP) TO THE NEAREST TOWN, SCALA,YOU ARE CONFINED TO HOTEL AND SURROUNDING AREA, ESPECIALLY AS IT IS SITUATED AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL! THERE WAS NO ENTERTAINMENT OR ANYTHING PROVIDED. THERE WAS A POOL AND A BIG SCREEN TV (NOT SATELLITE). HAVING SAID THAT THE ROOMS ARE LARGE AND THE SEA VIEW BEAUTIFUL A SHORT WALK THROUGH HOTEL GARDEN AND ON TO THE BEACH - LONG AND SANDY. WONDERFUL FOR A VERY QUIET RELAXING HOLIDAY WHERE YOU BASK AND READ BUT IF YOU LIKE TO VARY YOUR TAVERNAS AND LIKE A MORE ACTIVE LIVELY HOLIDAY YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED."

"A good hotel but the pool was dirty as th efilter system did not work. They were fixing it as we left!"

"The Marina Bay Hotel is set directly on the beach......however thats it, there is on ebeach bar an dnothing else.
We went in mid September, the bar was closed in fact we got locked out one night becouse we returned to the hotel just after midnight. The food & beverage manager was full of doom & gloom & kept telling us he had no customers - not what you want to hear whilst on holiday!!
Hotel was clean but very basic - we went into Skala every night & had wonderful food & a great time.
Would definately return to Kefalaonia but not The Marina Bay Hotel"

"This our sixth visit and as good as ever. As always it was lovely to meet Denis and Marina again - who always make you so welcome.
The food in the restaurant this year was greatly improved under the guiding hand of Katerina and Spiros. We had excellent food throughout the stay and for those who haven't hired a car it is as good as anywhere in Skala.
Yianni the hotel manager is a good addition to the set up and has things running very smoothly. His English is excellent and there is nothing he cannot sort out for you (except the weather!!!)
But nothing can actually beat the quiet and beauty of the bay. To wake up every morning overlooking the bay, with Zakynthos in the background and the sea just gently washing the sand is simply glorious. If you want shangri-la there is no need to travel to the Maldives.
Our thanks to Travel Republic who made this trip so simple - no fuss, no worries. Will use again. Gary and Amanda, Surrey, September 2008"

"The Marina Bay Hotel is a really nice hotel and it's location, set right on Mounda Beach is superb. The downside is it's distance from the nearest town of Skala or the village of Katelios, both approx 2.5 miles away. Dependent on the time of year, attempting to walk to either of these at night could be extremely dangerous as the main road is mostly unlit and there is no public footpath. Getting to the main road from the hotel is via a "Very Steep" road which is approx 0.33 miles long, not for the faint hearted! The only reasonable options are taxi or hire vehicle. The taxi charge to Skala is 6 euros each way.
The hotel has a nice restaurant serving good food & wine at prices that are competitive with those in Skala and Katelios but not everyone wants to eat in the same place every night. As a suggestion the hotel could provided a minibus service to town but I suspect this would be frowned upon by the local taxi drivers!!"

"The hotel was very nice, but just a little to far outside Skarla for our liking the walk took about 40mins on an unlit road. The hotel lacked atmosphere at night as the upstairs hotel bar didn't open. Most people went into Skarla to eat and drink, So very very few people went back to the hotel for a drink afterwards. Shame"

"The Hotel was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were a great size, we did have a little problem with ants in bathroom on arrival, but no sooner was it brought to the attention of the staff it was sorted.
Unfortunately for us we had a death in the family at home while we were on holiday and needed to leave early, I cannot praise Yannis (reception manager) enough for all the help he gave us, everyone was so caring and helpful, even greekstones, car rental.
Our heartfelt thanks to you all a wonderful team.
The Beach was also very good, lovely golden sands.
Would have been good to get little more choice at breakfast but other than that we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to go again.
Also we were on the XL flight that went bust, but at the airport the staff were wonderful and managed to get everyone on a flight home, there were many anxious people at the small airport but the staff had it all organised very well I didn't hear any complaints."

"Excellant location on a lovely beach. Hotel needs a little updating. A car is a must as it is very isolated. Although there is a restaurant, there is no atmosphere, It does say that the bar stays open until 3am or until you drop, but we were lucky if it stayed open until 10pm, the manager needs replacing, he's only friendly if you eat there! And the owner sits in the resturant during breakfast puffing away on his ciggies, breakfast is the same every day and everything comes with wasps. Could be a little gold mine if managed properly."

"The hotel was a brilliant location, right on the beach and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, although I was unsure whether the pool was very clean as I never see it being cleaned and the colour appeared a bit misty. I felt the hotel could have more staff to help the other staff working long hours. The rooms were very good, great size, great view and very clean. Its a lovely place to stay."

"Hotel was nice and clean. Staff were friendly apart from the drinks and food manager who had a bit of a attitude problem. The swimming pool could do with a good clean. But other than that the hotel was perfect."

"This is a small, well run hotel situated on a lovely stretch of sandy beach. It is extremely quiet and not recommended for those looking for any form of evening entertainment as it is not within walking distance of any bars or retaurants. A taxi to Skala costs about 6 euros each way. However if you are looking for a totally relaxing venue then this is it.
The pool area is quite small but the hotel backs onto Mounda Beach and there are plenty of sunbeds in the hotel grounds and on the beach. Be warned, the hotel encourages people to use it's pool and sunbeds for free but if you are a guest of the hotel and chose to use the beach sunbeds, which are owned by the hotel, then they charge you 6 euros a day which is enitrely out of order!
The food in the restaurant is of a very high quality although the evening menu is a little limited. Prices are a little above eating out in Skala where there is more competition however the cost of the taxi makes it comparable. The breakfast is quite basic and would benefit from a selection of fresh fruit. The restaurant staff are friendly and accomodating.
Overall this is a lovely hotel in a beautiful and extremely peaceful area and one which we would definitely recommend and return to."

"Hotel was excellent. One area that could be imroved was the equipment provided. There was no pots and pans for cooking and the two electric rings were very inefficient. The hotel obviously wanted you to eat in their restaurant. The food there was moderate and expensive compared to Skala town.
However, all of this was irrelevant when you take into account the location of the hotel directly on the beach."

"The room was very clean and comfortable with regular maid service and changes of sheets and towels. The view from the room out over the sea to Zakynthos was fantastic, as was sitting on the balcony at night with the moon shining over the sea.
Breakfast was disappointing and we chose to self-cater this. The hotel was in a wonderful setting and the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, but people would be lost there without a car. We had a hire car and when not travelling around the island, we spent most of our time in Skala or Katelios, where we re-visited places from the first time we ever went to Greece together. We had a really nice week."

"We went here for our honeymoon - our first time in Kephalonia. We were delighted with our appartment - the cleanliness, the view, the size. We were a stone's throw from a lovely, quiet, sandy beach, and after exploring other beaches, we thought it was the best on the island!
We were booked in as B & B and the breakfasts were always very good & service excellent & friendly.
Self-catering facilities fine - a full sized fridge - but not very well equipped in the way of pans, cutlery etc. But we asked for more and got them.
If you go here in high season, get the air conditioning on your first night - worth every penny! We waited for 2 nights and regretted it."

"Just spent two weeks at Marina Bay - wish we were still there! Beautiful spot if you just want sun, swimming, to rest, read and walk along the beach. Hired a car for 3 days, best deal from Greekstones in Skala, but couldn't wait to get back to the sun lounger. Would definately go back here, one of the best beaches....sandy, clear clean water and very safe."

"Marina Bay is set in the most beautiful setting right on one of the most unspoilt beaches in Kefalonia.
