"We enjoyed our 4 day stay at Melia but it was not real Cuba. It was hard to believe that people stay there for the duration of their visit! The resort is at the end of a cause-way that Cubans aren't even allowed to cross and it's wrong that so many people don't get to see what this incredible country has to offer.
It's a good place to unwind though (apart from the mild stress caused by the mosquito infestation) - amazing beach, decent accommodation (but bad food)"

"The reception bar! Great waiters (ask for Luca's Daiquiri!!!)"

Hotel Details - Melia Las Dunas Hotel

The centre of this hotel, opened in 2006, is full of life... the spacious, colourful lobby offers plenty of space, water features and a row of Palapas, culminating in a main square. Furthermore, a wedding pavilion, restaurants, ice-cream parlour, shops, a hairdresser and a beer garden feature within this complex. Facilities on offer include a foyer with a reception desk manned around the clock, a hotel safe and a currency exchange facility. Conference facilities and Internet access (charges apply) are also on hand, as well as room and laundry services (for an additional fee), parking, a kids' club and a playground. This hotel is a holiday paradise with 925 double rooms in 32 two-floor bungalows with 24 rooms and 11 two-floor bungalows with 16 rooms. Both sites are set in lively surroundings. While one bungalow complex is suitable for families, the other is clearly intended for couples.
