"This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and as usual the staff were brilliant but you have to remember this is a 2* hotel and not a 4* hotel. You aren't paying alot of money to stay here so don't expect the food to be brilliant but the rooms are always clean and your not paying over the top prices for the drinks. For pure value for money this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we are looking forward to returning there again next year when they re-open."

"Bit dated as i think we stayed in the old part. Not sure if there was a new part? But it was a 2 star. on Ground floor everything was updated but not the rooms. Rooms were clean and tidy but dated.Food okay same as other hotels in spain. sometimes the restaurant was so busy, you could not find place to sit, food run out ( only for a short time while they re stocked ) no cutlery or plates running out.
Beach is about a 10 minute stroll throught the shops.
There is a Church opposite, to which the bells go off every 15 minutes, but after a while you get used to them.
Would go back as it is a 2 star and you get what you pay for."

"The Hotel Reception/Lounge/Bar and Pool/Rooftop areas are of 2 Star Standard. The rooms would not qualify for a 1 Star. No entertainment in hotel or the area.The restaurant and the food supplied is like being in a time warp to the school meals of the 1950's. Arrive by opening time and your chances of food are limited. The church next door, where the coach transfers leave you, peels its bells every 15 mins. To get pick up for return transfers is uphill. A number a fellow guests went by train to Barcelona and we robbed by pickpockets. A few staff helpful but most could or did not wish to help or speak English. We now take about 6 holidays a year with some in Spain but this one will never be repeated."

"Whilst I found the hotel adequate, the surrounding area I found inadequate. I think the town caters very little for the holidaymaker. It seemed that every day was like a sunday, this may have been because it was late september. It is only a short walk to either Santa Susanna one way and Calella the other, which were both much better for holidaymakers."

"This hotel is very good value, I paid under £100 for a week half board. The rooms while very basic are kept very clean, as is the rest of the hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar is nice and drinks are not that expensive although we went out for drinks most nights.

The only negative for Hotel Merce is the food, found breakfast quite depressing - fruit juice is squash and a lot of the pastries/rolls are stale. Dinner was nicely cooked and fresh but despaired over one nights choice of pizza and fishfingers and sausages the next evening. This was not really a problem as after the first few nights we ate out as local restaurants serve lovely cheap food. For the money this was an excellent stay and would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Merce again as such good value for money and excellent location."

"First of all this is the only property that has entertainment nightly in pineda de mar!! Don't take toddlers theres nothing for them to do (entertainment,proper sand,or food) The reception staff are really friendly and rooms are made up everyday. Me and the hubby went for a night out for our anniversary ha ha we we're out for an hour."

"Great value for money, all the hotel staff lovely and friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and food had improved from last year although is still basic but fine specially considering what we paid! only downside was that the hotel does have some school groups stay, however they were mostly out of the way on their activities. On the whole we have found this hotel very good with a personal touch from the staff there and an international feel with guests from all over Europe. This was our 2nd year and we will be going again next year! Another brilliant deal from Travelrepublic!"

"Hotel itself was really clean and the pool area was lovely. Good choice on the breakfast. However if you didnt speak much Spanish (luckily i do!) you might have problems on late night check ins"

"A very clean and friendly Hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was ok, but not a lot of choice. Although the hotel was not situated near the beach, it was an enjoyable stroll through Melias Square and the main street. I wasn't expecting too much as this was only a two star hotel, but can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised and would definately return."

"I booked this hotel as it looked like good value, partricularly including half board. When we got there, our first room was right next to a very noisy air con unit on the hotel wall and our balcony overlooked 3 other internal walls - not the best view. We also had no air con in the room. Consequently, we asked to move and the new room had air con and overlooked the street, much better. In terms of the food - it is quite good but get down to breakfast and diner early as everything is cleared away very quickly after the allocated time. Service is not great and the catering staff are not helpful but it does the job if you are not into anything flash.
Beware the hotel is noisy - the walls are very thin and we heard people talking outside our room door at night that felt like they were standing in it! We had quite a few sleepless nights. The binmen also come along at 12:30am every night and picked up the rubbish right outside our room.

The clenaliness and condition of the hotel is good and the location is fine also - about 500m from the beach but don't expect anything flash."

"overall the hotel was excellent, very clean very friendly staff,good location.
the only down side was that the food was very repetive (i love bacon and eggs but not for 9 days on the trot)
pineda de mar is a little quiet with very few shops or bars.
but is a very quaint spanish town if you want more lively atmosphere go to lloret."

"THIS IS A SMALL FRIENDLY HOTEL THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFULL AND IT WAS EXCELLENT VALUE . WE LIKED THE LOCATION AT THE BACK OF THE TOWN NEXT THE CHURCH BUT IT WAS A BIT OF A WALK TO THE BEACH. THE HALF HOURLY TRAIN TO BARCELONA COST AROUND £5 50 WELL WORTH A VIST. STAY AWAY FROM LORET DE MAR UNLESS YOU LIKE FOOTBALL SHIRTS TATOOS AND CHEEP SOUVENIR SHOPS!

"For a 2 star hotel this place really pleased us. It was clean & the pool & bar area on the roof was relaxing. The dinner was not up to much, but the breakfast was good even for our British morning appetite. Pineda De Mar is a little quiet but the train on the front will whip you along to Santa Suzanna or Malgrat De Mar in about 9 minutes."
