"Clean room with good balcony which overlooked the main square and a glimpse of the sea. Breakfast OK. Excellent value for money, but nicer hotels in the square if you are prepared to spend a bit more money."

"Very friendly family run hotel. No frills but clean with large rooms and balcony with view.Also free safety deposit box in room. Breakfasts good. Hotel is right on corner of main square and ideal for restaurants bars etc. 2 minutes walk to seafront and about 10 minutes to bus station so ideal for anyone planning to explore island.
Air conditioning unit did tend to leak water on floor though!"Top Tip:
"El Greco restaurant just up from square towards Napier gardens has excellent cheap greek food(choose from days specials on display in kitchen). Portside restaurant on seafront also very good and will accept euro traveller cheques at face value(only place we found that did). Glass bottom boat trip is very good. Seems expensive at 50 euros each but so much food and wine at lunchtime that we found we didn't need anything at night.Worth checking harbour in morning for turtles as we saw them on two separate occasions around fishing boats moored at quay."Mirabel Hotel check-in Date:

"Room/shower room small as is typical of Greek Island hotels, but all well maintained and beautifully clean. Quiet except on Saturday night when we needed to close double glazed window, but had air conditioning so OK. Breakfast average. Pleasant staff. Our room (level 4) overlooked a building project, but good views of the square, sea and mountains as well. Guests of many nationalities. No problems of any kind and overall we were very satisfied. Would book it again."
Top Tip:
"Lots of very good restaurants just off the square. The square itself is closed to motor vehicles and (thankfully now) to motor bikes in the evening and is great to wander round, people watch etc. Lots of bars, eateries etc."Mirabel Hotel check-in Date:

"Excellent value hotel, central location just set back from the town square. Enjoyed a very comfortable room and huge balcony on the top floor. Simple but adequate breakfasts, bar was not up and running during our stay but was not a problem as there were numerous places close by. Very helpful staff, the owner even let us chill our wine in the hotel fridge."

"shower was very badly designed and too small, shower room door and window were extremely difficult to close, had to be banged to close. didn't get info from rep for several days, even though we believe it was there, we may have booked a trip or car through him, as buses were very few and far between, being end of season, hotel was clean, and staff helped best they could, but didn't seem to have much info about the location, would rate it more a two star hotel."

"We actually stayed for an additional week rather than move on elsewhere.
Hotel very clean everyone very helpfull and pleasant.
Been to most of the Greek Islands (mainly the small ones and Kefalonia is great)

"We had top floor room, large balcony with marvellous view over water and mountains.Although in square was very quiet. Safety deposit box in room was free. Staff helpful and efficient. Room was medium size, bathroom was small. TV had no English programme when we arrived but was immediately tuned when we reported this. Hotel was very clean."

"A very friendly hotel with wonderful local people only too happy to help. The hotel has a very seventies feel about it and needs updating. The cleanliness was excellent and the room was cleaned every day along with towel change every 2 days. A reasonable selection for the continental breakfast was also included. Our only criticism was that the bathroom was very, very small and desperately needed updating and renovating!! The hairdryer "fixed" into the wall and next to the shower area was dubious! It was impossible not to get any water onto the hairdryer and therefore not really suitable to be used!"

"There are two excellent souvalaki/gyros/pita houses in Argostoli. One was just down the road within 5 mins walk opposite the Alpha Bank (on the harbour front. )Very reasonable and always fresh and tasty.
