  • Barry from Bradford reviewed the Pyramisa Isis Hotel

  • "Things didn't look good when we checked in and the two bedroom suite we booked was not what we got. We did however get two one bedroom junior suites next door to each other. As we had two young girls (11 & 13) it was a bit of a concern but the rooms were great, had a view of the Nile and had a chain and lock on the doors. The beds were massive, if a little firm, there was a fridge with small freezer area, a full bathroom and another loo with wash basin. The room service was great and excellent value and the shops around the base of the hotel were reasonable. The pools are mostly 8 feet deep and not really conducive for a relaxing soak but that said all in all its quite a good hotel and well worth the money. There is some work going on but it didn't impact on us at all. The staff were great and the hotel really doesn't need the cards in the room offering people 10% off or upgrade to a suite on their next visit if they write a review on Tripadvisor. "

  • Top Tip:

"Beware Viking Balloon company as they cancelled our balloon ride as we waited in the bus. The pilot managed to get himself on the wrong side of the Nile at the end of his first flight. As it was our last day there we couldn't reshedule and so missed out on what was to be the highlight of our trip."

  • Kathryn from Bath reviewed the Pyramisa Isis Hotel

  • "The room we were allocated 'city view' was absolutely unacceptable with tatty decor, faulty aircon and all night noise from the street when you finally did drop off to sleep 5am prayers through loud speakers ensured you were awake again (ear plugs provided no barrier - it was that loud). Luckily the Med Hotels rep (Ahmed) and the hotel were fantastic and gladly moved us to a beautiful room. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and I cannot fault anything else. My complaint is more the lack of information regarding this, as if it was stated this was what city view meant I would have gladly paid a bit more to avoid this "

  • Top Tip:

"The area was not really safe for women to venture out on their own, we got alot of hassle and stay away from British women who have married local men offerring to take us out 'safely' as apparently this rouse is often used"

  • MAUREEN from MILTON KEYNES reviewed the Pyramisa Isis Hotel

  • "What makes this hotel so great is the personalised service given by the staff. They are so friendly and helpful and immediately make you feel welcome. This was my first visit to Luxor and it did feel a bit strange when we got there but the staff at the hotel made us feels very relaxed and welcome. I would definitely stay there again. The pool area and garden are kept very clean. There was work going on around the hotel and sun terrace but the men working there kept out of your way and we did not feel unduly bothered by it. The food and was great and the waiters kept us laughing all week."

  • "The Pyramisa Isis excels due to the personalised service given by the staff. They are so friendly and helpful and immediately makes the guest relax and enjoy their stay there. My first visit was in November '07 and ever since I have been there 4 times so far and will never stay anywhere else as the staff are so nice to me - so much that they are now like my extended family. It's a wonderful place where guests can relax and enjoy the music at the bar, the spacious garden and pool area, the food and everything else that this 5 star hotel has to offer."

  • "Nice place to stay, good location, on a very reasonable price. Staff is flexible and helpful, - mostly when you ask your double room reserved, and they make it of two single beds!:-) They have only single beds. It's a huge massive hotel, sometimes a bit crowdy and noisy, but anyway I can recommend it to everyone. "

  • Parviz from Alderley Edge reviewed the Pyramisa Isis Hotel

  • "I booked it as it was rated as 5 star. It was not up to the standrads of a 5 start hotel (I have stayed in many 5 stars around the world). The hotel was not clean, house keeping was very poor, level of english communication (even at the reception or room service) was very poor. Food was terrible and there was no reasonable restaurant at the hotel. I would have classified it as 3 star. There 5 star hotels near by much much better at cheaper price."

  • Patricia from London reviewed the Pyramisa Isis Hotel

  • "Unfortunately the big pool was closed for renovations. The hotel is a bit tired but the staff are very friendly. We had a Nile view which was amazing especially when the sun set. I highly recommend watching the sun set from the shisha bar and trying a 'lemon juice' drink (non-alcoholic)."

  • Top Tip:

"As we were only BnB we went across the road to the restaurant for food on couple of days that was half the price and comparable to the food served in the hotel. Pizza Hut (yes I know it is a cop out) is just up the road as well and very inexpensive. I also recomend a balloon trip - you can book it cheaper at a local travel agent rather than through the hotel, although you will need to specify if you want a sun rise ride (we missed the sun rise but were still impressed with our ride)"

  • "We found every member of staff to be very helpful, cheerful, even the gardeners, we chose a city view room, wow what an adventure. Watching everything that went on, we found the food varied, well cooked. The hotel was very clean. If you required anything at all, they would sort it in a shot. The pool area was cleaned regularly. We had a wonderful holiday & would have no hesitation booking this hotel again. "

  • Top Tip:

"Don't just stay in the tourist areas, we went to the old souk, true Egypt, it was wonderful. The people of Luxor are wonderful, Maxims Restaraunt wonderful, Casablanca even better. What can we say everything was great, Karnak do it by taxi, no rush. Visit the old Winter Palace, long trousers you can have coffee in foyer. or even a meal.Go & enjoy. "

  • "I stayed in the same hotel about 10 years ago and it appears to to have changed greatly with the execption of any upkeep (it looks not to have been touched for 10 years!) The hotel 10 years ago was most definately a 5 star in every sense of the word but I think a fair rating would be 3 star now. The staff themselves , some of whom I met years ago ,now rate it much lower than previously , and on occasion seemed embarressed by its current state. Whilst we had a lovely time the food was disappointing, cold mostly and at its best luke warm and very repetative it fo was really a disappointment. But hey this is Eygpt, breakfast is nice and I became a dab hand at making cheese sandwiches for lunch. Even though all inclusive it is so cheap to eat out it was no great shakes. The pool is in dire need of repair and somedays was so green it appeared unsafe to swim in. The side of the pool grills were broken in places and quite unsafe. The rooms need a very good clean and the curtains were filthy..the nets were black! People complained about the all inclusive ending at 10pm...We bought drinks (large rounds as we made friends) after 10pm on a couple of occasions and including room service every morning for tea for 2 our bill was only £40 for the week. You are so tired after a hard days sightseeing it is hard to stay awake on an evening. All this aside it is very freindly, and did not mar our holiday in any way. "

  • Top Tip:

"Take a towel when going to the valley of the kings, it is soooo hot you will appreciate being able to wipe yourself down. The balloon trip is amazing but book through Mohammed who works in the hotels telephone centre (near reception) We only paid £30 through him and it was awesome, he goes with Alaska balloons (the red ones). When booking trips use Anton from Travco, much chaeper than Club Med rep and trips are in small groups and very well organised. We recommend the day trip down the Nile to Dedandra, Have fun it's Eygpt!"
