"Hotel was excellant but we did stay in the new part which has been refurbished and rooms were all newly fitted out. The hotel furniture was also new in the communal areas. The 'old' part of the hotel is reached via an underground passge reached down stairs opposite the main hotel reception which takes you under the hotel to the old part which (so we were told) was "dated" so best to ask for the new part when booking. Hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The beach is a 2 minute walk and the bus station is literally over the road. There is a market right opposite the hotel on Wednesdays which was good (we were told to watch out for pick pockets) and got a really good deal on DVD's at 3 for 5 euros and ALL worked and were very good copies. Alright, the food was average but for what we paid there was always something edible - for evening meal there was salad plus soup and always a fish or meat dish and deserts. For breakfast there were rolls/cereals/fruit/bacon/scramblked eggs/cold meats plus fruit juice and tea/coffee and they will even get you fried eggs if you ask. No entertainment in evening and hotel is very quiet but plenty of bars restaurants nearby. There are two pools - one in the 'new' part and the other in the 'old'and both were quiet - just me and the wife most times! Booked the hotel through Travel republic (best price) and got transfer through low cost transfers who were on time at airport and hotel (look out for your name on a board when you get into main airport as name is on the board."

"To start with the hotel had only recently opened after being refurbished and it wasnot ready for clients. We were in the old part, down curved steps, along a passage covered in black polystyrene with concealed lights, it looked like a cave. Up in a lift without internal door. Outside our room there was a domed ceiling and an iornamental goldfish pond. The room itself was clean apart from the carpet but the whole place needed painting. Outside our bbalcony there were a lot of young black men shouting all the time, day and night, hanging round telephone boxes, made you feel a bit wary. There two pools one which looked new and the other attached to our building which needed a good clean. The food was mediocre, and the restaurant was not big enough for when the hotel really gets going."

"the hotel was everything i could have hoped for, nice room, good food, friendly service
50 metres from the beach, very satisfied, good value for money, hope to go back again."

"Entire hotel newly renovated although some small matters still need to be completed. Lovely reception area, rooms spotless and fairly spacious, with all new beds etc. Also had flat screen tv, with BBC1, BBC4 and ITV1 all available. Dining room also newly renovated, but during our stay it rained for the first time in about 4 months and it quickly became apparent that the dining room roof was anything but watertight! Food quality was average, with only a limited choice each breakfast and dinner. Staff all very nice though. Pool area is a suntrap but is fairly small. All new sunbeds and tables/chairs by the pool. Overall, given the price we paid, I would say the hotel gave excellent value."

"It was our 3rd visit to Quarteria Sol in Portugal and were delighted to find that since our last visit a year ago that the Hotel had undergone a massive refurbishment. There was still some work going on but this did not disturb us at all.
We were also delighted to see that the staff were the same and we received a friendly welcome that made the stay even better.
We are planning to return again next year."

"just recently renovated still some work to be done but i would say by next summer it will be in full swing must be one of the best in the area now"

"we have just returned from a weeks stay in QUARTERIA SOL HOTEL in quarteria. The hotel had only been opened 3 days, have under going renavations. Every thing was brand new, we had toilet, bidet, bath, shower over bath, a nice big wardrobe, air con, telephone, television. the towels were changed every day, and the room cleaned. the staff were very friendly and helpfull. We stayed bed and breakfast, the only one fault we had, was that the breaky was the same every morning, (bacon, scrambled egg, fruit, cereals and continental. We did not mind, but i suppose some people might complain, we did mention it though to one of the staff, and she said she would mention it to the manager, but in no way did it spoil our stay. We would go again."

"I thought that there was rather a limited choice of food for breakfast and there was only machine coffee available. This coffee was appalling."

"Excellent value for money with very friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms clean (bed linen changed daily).
There has been an attempt to update the decor but let down by carpeting that had seen better days. I would have preferred hard flooring and some rugs but can't really complain.
Breakfast was excellent with a large choice of hot and cold options including different fruit every day.
A good value hotel, close to the beach and the centre of the town."

"Exterior a little tired but interior was surprising. Food was okay although don't look for the traditional cooked British breakfast. Having said that, there was plenty of cheese, cold meat and cereals. Pool area never was packed although by about 3 pm it is in the shade. Would I stay there again? Possibly but I am sure that there are better and worse."

"A very nice stay, Hotel staff were very helpful and very pleasant. The rooms were very comfortablebut need redecorating and new carpets , the Food was extremeely good value for money and every meal was served by excellent staff. We appeared to ,be the only patrons staying for more than one day so we were treated very well. The only downside was that the rooms were situated over a main thoroughfare where nightly music was played very loud until 2.30 in the morning. I would recomend this accommodation as very good value for money."

"The hotel was very basic, but clean, hotel staff were friendly. I was quite satified for the money hotel cost. I think we may have been the only people staying there, and of an evening all the stair and landing lights were off. I would return to hotel but only for short breaks, I don't think it would be adequate for annual holiday."

"Reception and restraunt area have been modernised and are above average.
The carpets thoughout the hotel are past their best .The rooms are a little small but i've stayed in smaller .The pool is small/med sized.
Hotel is central , beach is at the back of the hotel .Wednesday's market is just across the road ,a supermarket is also across the road.Aircon is dated but works fine."

"we had already read other reviews of this hotel and by and large they were not wrong. the reception and the toilets on the ground floor were 4* but the rooms although ours was very large were in need of refurbisment. the towels were changed every day and the bedding at regular intervals.we stayed b/b and we expected continental breakfast but 5 days out of the seven we had bacon, scrambled egg and boiled eggs .also cereal ,ham cheese etc. we felt this hotel gave really good value for moey. PS all the staff were very friendly and helpuyl"

"The staff were very friendly, especially the ones on reception. The meals were average with not a great deal of choice at breakfast. Ideally located for the bus station.. it was just over the road. Overall for the money we paid for the hotel, it was good value...would go back."

"The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.
The rooms were cleaned daily but they are in badly in need of some TLC"

"Staff very friendly and helpful - excellent service - Norberto Simao and Lucia at the reception wonderful!!!!. Room excellent. Breakfast average, but enough food. Taxi from and to the airport without any problems. We had a really nice stay.
We came at the end of September - it was not as crowded as in August. Early September maybe a little bit better,
Area is very nice, maybe too much English with a lot of English pubs and restaurants (you feel like in England), but we found a lot of Portuguese restaurants.
People lovely, no problems with communication. We would like to come back next year!!!!"

"Although the hotel is clean and friendly, they seem to operate with few staff and the decor on the stairs etc is tired."

"A very nice resort (good for those looking for something not too lively but with a great beach) and conveniently positioned hotel. Reception areas etc really nice and obviously recently refurbished...... hopefully the rooms / suites etc will follow on. Would definetly stay there again."

"had a great view of the beach but rooms were very old fasioned"

"Lovely Hotel, had an amazing room-804, top floor but the best balcony/view in the hotel. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
The area is lovely, gorgeous beaches. But aimed at older couples/families. Not much happening after midnight."

"The hotel was ideally situated away from noise but close to the beach and restaurants. The reception area and bar were modern, the bedrooms are a little outdated but having said that they
