"Excellent even though restoration was going on it wasn't a problem. The staff are super, they couldn't do enough for you ,we stayed at the Jollie Ville the week after and wish we'd stayed at the Sheraton for 2!"

"The Sheraton is a 5* hotel, but only as you would expect to find abroad. It does back right on to the Nile. I would recommend to old, young and family travellers alike. It was a great disappointment to discover that the Nile view pool was closed and undergoing repairs & for this reason the outside dining area was also closed off which made the inside of the restaurant gloomy. Pool and patio re-opened on the day we left and both looked fantastic with views across the Nile. All services were above average and all staff very freindly and helpful. As mentioned in another review, some bungalows with garden view can be very gloomy because trees/bushes block out a lot of light. When we asked to be moved, because of the lack of light, there was no hesitation in doing so. Location is in a quiet area but still only 5 mins from Luxor centre. All other means of transport (sail or motorized boat, taxi, horse and carriage) are availabe right outside the hotel garden."
Top Tip:
"Local people are very friendly but persistant in thier efforts to sell you something. We did NOT find this intimidating, but it can get tiring if you just want a nice quiet ride-out or walk-out. Therefore, we would recommend the tours that are on offer from the Hotel as they come complete with well informed guides and linked-up transportation, to and from the hotel door. "

"This was overall a first class experience staying at the Sheraton in Luxor. The staff were friendly and helpful, the decor was fantastic, the bungalow room was constantly pleasantly cool and cleaned very well every day. The swimming pool was excellent, the staff attentive and a perfect place to relax. If I had to criticise anything, it would be very difficult but the one thing I would say is that the safe deposit box access in the hotel could be better administered by insisting on signatures from staff and the owner and staff looking away when you access the box as agreed when you sign to take the box on (this is a free service). There is a safe in your room but if the box in the lobby is used correctly, I would prefer to use this. There was some building work going on but we were warned of this before departure."
Top Tip:
"Good restaurants include Lanterns, Maxime's and Kababgy's opposite the Luxor temple on the lower side of the corniche. Ali on the felucca (Nile Smile) outside the hotel entrance was honest and very good. Don't pay more than 15 Egyptian pounds for a cab or caleche into central Luxor. This should be 10 pounds, not 50 as quoted by some greedy touts. Walk away if necessary and the cost will fall. Keep walking until you're ready to accept. Keep smiling even when the going gets tough. Have a joke with the cab and caleche drivers when they endlessly pester you, they're just trying to make a living."

"While we stayed at the Luxor Sheraton the rooms in the main building were being refurbished. This did not impact our holiday at all. We stayed in the Bungalows which were fine, but could do with updating the decor, etc
The Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable.
We are planninng to return next year."
Top Tip:
"At the entrance to the Hotel there is a small shop selling water, snacks, etc at a fraction of the Hotel prices. Officially you are not meant to take the snacks into the Hotel, but nobody questioned us.
If you like a steak at a reasonable price try ' 7 days 7 ways '. The staff and food are great and it is only about 200m or so from the Sheraton.
Don't be put off by the local shopkeepers. They try to sell you their goods, but are also happy to just talk to you."

"The bungalows are displayed nicely and very quite, the only but very important remaque that we have to notice, is that there is not terrace, but insted a big wodden grille making the room very clostrophobic and make the room unfriendly.
The fridge did not fonction propely, needless to say that it is needed in Egypt!
A part from that the hotel is quite fare from the center, knowing my way around make it easy for but for phirst time coming it will cost a bit for taxis...
We did have great holdays and didn't use the hotel facilities too often as we visiting a lot of sites.
Hoping that this review will help your future costumers.

"The Sheraton was excellent! The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to accommodate us during our stay. The bungalows were fine but we changed to a room in the main hotel, which was above average."
Top Tip:
"There were man great restaurants just around the corner. I would recommend Maximes, it done an excellent fillet steak , cooked to your liking for under £4."

"The rooms were at a good standard. But the door didn't seem secure. You could rattle it, and there were signs of damage to the outside. Most seemed like this. Although it looks like they're starting to refurbish the rooms.
The hotel felt very secure, & was out of the way of the main road & hassle of locals wanting to sell you anything."

"The holidays went very well. As arranged the transport at the Luxor airport was excellent. Got us the visa for Egypt in few seconds .
The Bungalow are much better the rooms in Sherton. Very clean.
Laundry changed daily

"The Hotel was very clean, efficient and the staff helpful. I would say that it was in actual fact a 4 Star rather than a 5 Star simply due to the quality of the furniture in the room which lacked the 5 Star finish. The big downside was that this hotel is 5Kms outside the town and the last hotel bus leaves Luxor town at 9.30pm."
Top Tip:
"The best restaurant is The Lantern near the Sonesta Hotel which is owned by an English woman, however, due to most people being on full board and the Lantern being so good the local restaurants don't do much business and are very quiet."

"Initially put in a dreadful garden room - didn't lock, smokey and dark. had to move rooms after a fuss. Also not adjoining as requested wiht young children. Meals were abit of a battle with getting a table set especially breakfast but otherwise good. Lovely heated swimming pool esp for kids"

"Hotel provided free bottled water to thouse staying but you only find out by default, they do not advertise the fact.

"Staff were really friendly and helpful.
The food in the Karnak restaurant was wonderful.
We had a ground floor room in a separate block. It had a nice view of the Nile, but the furnishings were rather 'tired' in comparison with the rooms in the main block. Also the bedding was rather ordinary in comparison with what I saw in the main block. "

"Second visit to Luxor we stayed at the Sheraton, some good, some bad. would class this as a 3 star back home. Suited for older groups or couples. - NOT if travelling with children
Pros
The beds were to die for, most comfortable
Bungalow pool - Clean, warm and well designed
Staff - Found them to be helpful
Mini Bar - Service offered and at local rate, eg 10 cans, 3 juice, 2 water, 2 crisps for equivalent of a fiver.
Cons
No entertainment - I was travelling with my 9 year old daughter and nothing whatsoever for her at the hotel, was not expecting activities but at least a bar where we could hear artists or a bit of music - because of this we spent most of our time and money in other hotels for the evening
Food - Not at all impressed with the buffet food, very boring and bland,
Drinks - very expensive

"If you have the chance visit Fellahs Tent situated at the Movenpick, we had a fantastic evening, and for myself and 9 year old daughter it cost £24 booked directly on the day with the Movenpick for 5 hours of fun and entertainment. Brilliant !!!"

"Beautifully appointed hotel, delightful setting. Food was fairly basic and didn't warrant 5 star. Very comfortable loungers by the pools you could have stayed there all day and not moved but there is so much to see so we used it as a two hour gap relaxation. Although the snack lunch was quite expensive in Egyptian terms an Egyptian lady stood by the clay oven baking unleven bread which was delicious and half a portion was enough!
Bungalows could do with an update but were very comfortable. Towels were very small - you would think for a hotel of that calibre, they would be wonderful large fluffly white Egyptian bath towels, but no!
Reception staff were not very welcoming. The hotel didn't have a lot of atmosphere as people were coming and going all the time and at 10 pm it was a bit of a ghost town but I think would apply to all hotels in Luxor as people have to get up at 5 and 6 am to see the sites in the relative cool.
We looked at the IBIS whilst we were there and it was very tired looking and not a patch on the Sheraton.
All in all it was a very pleasant stay as long as you are not wanting a lot of alcohol as it is very expensive in the restaurant and bar."
Top Tip:
"The local people are out to make a fast buck and who can blame them but if you want to do town on the caleche, agree a price before you start. They will take you
to a large building housing absolutely everything from papyrus to Egyptian tablecloths to bellydancing gear. We went on our first day and paid over the odds but whatever they ask just halve! They are pretty agreeable and it is fun to barter. "

"The hotel clean, food excellent ,staff hardworking and friendly all very helpful.
Indian restaurant we felt was a bit pricey.
Hairdresser very disappointing made a complete mess of my hair and also my
sons i can't wait for it to grow out at £22 a waste of holiday money.
