Top tip is to hire a car to see the rest of Portugal as Carvoeiro is quite small. Great restaurant is Fernandos in Monte Carvoiero where you cook your own steak on a stone even my 12 year old ate it and all he eats is Spaghetti Bolognaise. Intermarche is the best place to shop, you also have Plus (same as Lidl) and Netto all within 5 - 10 minute drive. Best beach we have found in the whole of Portugal is still Alvor worth a visit and only 20 minutes in car. from David

On the beach don't stay on the main bit go to the left around the rocks. It is far quieter. Vimar restaurant is brilliant if you have kids as there is a play area and great service. from Susan
