- Alicante is a lovely, friendly, very Spanish city. We had some great days out using the buses and trains. Elche was certainly well worth a visit.

- If you travel from Alicante to Bendidorm on the FGV Tram always add 20 to 30 minutes onto the advertised timetable journey time.It takes about 1.5 hours each way and is well worth the E3 fare each way with great scenery all the way.

Stayed at Goya HotelAugust 2007 - If you go to Alicante take euros. We could not use credit cards anywhere. Obviously when you take money from the cash point you are charged. There are very few English speaking people in Alicante so take your phase book!!!!

Stayed at Spa Porta Maris HotelAugust 2007 - The local market hall is opposite the hotel and open every morning. The atmosphere is very bustly Spanish and well worth a wander around. It is mostly fruit, veg and fish but there is a linen stall that sells excellent quality aprons made in Alicante for around 8 euro, Great buy.
Also if you like the beach get the tram to the stop Costa Blanca. Here there is a big expanse of lovely sandy beach which is quieter than the Alicante beach and the tram station is 2mins up the road from the hotel.
