Stayed at Oasis Royal ApartmentsSeptember 2006 - If you want to savour the Canarian way of life, avoid the british bars and restaurants and look for Spanish bars and places to eat in the back streets (where you will not be ripped off and will be made very welcome). There is a spanish cafe under the clock tower in Calle Anzuelo, Avelina's restaurant down by the harbour, and do try Big Ben gift shop in Calle Anzuelo for very reasonably priced gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
