- Go for drinks at sunset on the Nile Terrace at the Old Winter Palace in central Luxor - pure Agatha Christie and great to soak up the atmosphere in town

Stayed at Jolie Ville Luxor Island Resort HotelJune 2007 - Sheesha Bar (Isis Pyramisa Hotel): If you don't stay in this hotel it is quite easy to just walk in. A chilled stella in one hand, sheesha pipe in the other and watching the sunset over the Nile, as my mate said at the time "Not a lot beats this mate!"
Golden Palace Restaurant (near Temples of Karnak): Excellent food, cocktails and general eating experience. The manager, Albert, boasted to be the number one cocktail maker in Egypt as well as the 5th best Greek-style wrestler as well. We had a traditional Egyptian 3 course meal for EG£60 (about £5.50) and the cocktails at £3.50 a go were exquisite and very potent!

- Turn left from the hotel towards Luxor, walk for 500 meters and turn right at the junction we found the Esquire restaurant & pub. Again the food is excellent and good value for money, the proprietor, Magdy Labib and his barman, Isaac stock a good selection of botteled beers, These guys will keep you entertained well into the small hours!!

Stayed at Sonesta St George Luxor HotelMarch 2006 - If you want a cheaper beer than the hotel, try The Kings Head just over the road. It doesn't look much from the outside, but is nice inside and they are really friendly.
