  • The Japanese and Italian restaurants in Sonesta are great. Although for a special treat (at which you will pay English prices - perish the thought) try the 1886 restaurant at the Old Winter Palace. Old world charm and elegance simply ooze from its walls. Dont be put off by having to dress for dinnner, just pack a decent frock girls and a jacket and tie for your old man and away you go! After dinner at this restaurant you will feel like you have died and gone to heaven, as you relax in the piano bar toe tapping to songs from the shows..... ah I am almost back there now! And remember - be nice to these folk, granted there may be some who would sell their Granny down the river - but that is true of all walks of life. The Egyptian folk are amongst the finest and freindliest I have ever met. - enjoy from Richard

  • If you're staying at the Sonesta, you must try the Japanese restaurant in the hotel. Truly great food. Also, the extra we paid to Travel Republic for the transfers to and from the airport were worth every penny.
