• Protaras is a popular resort for singles, couples and families. It is was formerly known as Fig Tree Bay and it is 8km from Ayia Napa.
• It is about 4 and a quarter hours from the UK, with transfers about an hour from Larnaca airport depending on whether you travel by private taxi or shuttle bus.
• Beaches in Protaras: Protaras lies on four miles of golden sand nestling next to warm turquoise shallow waters. The best beaches on the island including Fig Tree Bay and Nissi Beach can be found in Protaras. Or you can explore the small coves to the north of the island but you will need a car. There's a great choice of watersports including paragliding, water skiing, jet skiing and diving. A quieter beach can be found at Cape Greko where the rocky shoreline provides some great snorkeling and diving.

• Can throughly recommend the Fig Tree Bay Cafe Restaurant in Protaras. Easy free parking, GREAT STAFF, VERY ATTENTIVE, good value for money too. Delightful views of the bay from the dining terrace during the day, and quiet and romantic at night. We kept going back there, and took 6 members of our family there for dinner on one occasion. If you go there for breakfast order the fresh orange juice. My partner said they were the best eggs he'd tasted in a long while. Lovely lovely people. • Protaras is a great resort with friendly people. Fig tree bay is an excellent beach but does get very busy as do all good places i suppose. Plenty of nightlife for all ages although Elvis, the Blues Brothers and the drag artists do get a bit repetative after a while but overall a great resort. more Entertainment Top Tips
