- Be sure to make it to the beach. It is hard to find a table in the sun at one of the many restaurants but once you do you will stay there all afternoon..we did!

Stayed at Barcelo Valencia Premium HotelNovember 2006 - The botanical gardens were amazing, the market fascinating and the cathedral well worth a visit. In the cathedral we had headphones with an english commentary which was very informative - didnt get to the harbour but I believe in always leaving something to go back for!

- We took a bus to the lakes at Albufera outside Valencia where we had a wonderful boat trip and saw the herons - loads of them and had a real seafood paella cooked especially for us in a lake side hotel and very cheap. The main thoroughfare to the docks was also a good walking park in between roads with seats and fountains and sculptures.

Stayed at Venecia HotelApril 2006 - The number 19 bus is great - one way it goes to the beach and the city centre in the opposite direction - a bus came along every 4 mins (pretty much without fail!) and the journey is really quick, something like 15 mins or so.

- Went to a great shopping mall about 10 min taxi ride called Sfera? ( I prefer the Zara here than the one in the city as larger and more selection ). Beach not too far by taxi either and some nice restaurants on the seafront. ( Went 7th Nov so very quiet but pleasant weather ).

Stayed at Catalonia Excelsior HotelMay 2008 - We really enjoyed our walks along the Turia Gardens (the homeless community congregate under one of the bridges in a nightly shanty town with their barbecues etc. and this is not publicised in the tourist brochures). The City of Arts & Sciences is a 'must see' along with the Oceanarium.

- the beach was beautiful. it's probably best to get a taxi there but if you wanted to walk go left out of the hotel and take the first road on your left - follow this to the end and go left and you'll see it.
