  • Resturant - Sargidi, on left hane side of road leading from the plaza to the catherdal square Tapas downstairs - tapas on a stick - you pay for the number of sticks you have at the end of the meal, lots of cold items on the bar for you to help yourselves to, also hot tapas brought round to your table. Resturant upstairs - expensive but a wonderful meal (140 euros two people, including bottle of wine). Really excellent food, meats and fish flame grilled the flavours were outstanding, excellent wine list and the staff could not be more helpful (french and english menus available) would love to go back from Suzanne

  • LEARN SPANISH!!! The majority of restaurants, shops etc do not speak english, which is fantastic. At least take a phrase book, as we did, to enable you to order food and drinks or do as we did and just point at the menu and wait for the surpirsie. A great way to try spanish food !! Enjoy. from Alison

  • We asked Mike, the guy at the hotel, for recs about where to get a decent paella and he recommended 'La Rall' (I think?). He was right, it was fantastic food - all the best bits of traditional and modern, and not too pricey either. from Juliette

  • Valencia's public transport system is very efficient and can save you money if on a budget opposed to getting taxi's all the time. I'm sure its buses 32 definately and possibly 19or21 that you can get outside Las Arenas (massive 5* hotel approx 100m along the beach from hotel Neptuno). Dining, my prefernece was for the city restaurant's opposed to those on the beach front right beside hotel neptuno. For roughly the same price I thought you got a better choice, quality and experience with the former. There is a great selection of both old and modern eateries, whereas those on the seafront are all just replicas of each other. from Michael

  • We found a small restaurant very near the hotel with a genuine Spanish atmosphere, with reasonably priced food. It was called La Utielana, Plaza Picadero dos Aguas 3. Another one close by was La Riua in the calle del Mar which had a lively atmosphere and has won lots of awards fro its Valencian cooking. It was child-friendly too. It was definitely worth taking the bus ride to the beach just a couple of miles from the city. from E
