"Okay is a bit generous, but I wouldn't want to clasify it as terrible. The bedding smelled damp, the room flooded with water when it rained heavily, and there was noise from beach bars etc until 3am."

Bad bits:
I specifically asked on the phone when booking whether all taxes were included in the ticket price, and was told that they were. When we arrived, it turned out that we each had to pay a $10 immigration charge and $20 to leave.

Hotel Details - Tropical Casa Laguna Hotel

Located 50 meters from the wide sandy bay of Cabarete and directly across from the Beach Club, Casa Laguna is quietly nested in to tropical gardens which have 164 different tropical plants. Most rooms were renovated mid 2002.
Accommodation
The hotel consists of 120 rooms. All are decorated and equipped with, air-conditioning, telephone, ceiling fan, bathroom with shower and a balcony.
All Inclusive Food & Drinks
The AI programme consists of breakfast (07:30-10:30), lunch (12:30-14:00) and dinner (19:00-21:30), all buffet style, served in either El Arrecife (International) or Pane Y Olio (Italian) restaurant. Dinner is also available at the Viva Zapata A la Carte restaurant (Mexican cuisine). During meals soft drinks, juice (orange, lemon, pineapple, etc), wine and cocktails are offered. Locally produced drinks such as whiskey, brandy, soft drinks, mineral water, juices, coffee, etc are served at the bars (one beach bar & a pool bar) between 10:00 & 23:00 and in the restaurants during the dining hours.
All Inclusive Sports & Entertainment
Sports facilities at the hotel include two swimming pools, one kids pool, one jacuzzi, one initial diving lesson in the pool & one initial windsurfing lesson on the beach, boogey boards & canoes on the beach, horseback riding (three times a week) and a beach volley ball court. Every evening there is a show that starts at 21:30; for example there is karaoke or playback or a live band. During the day people can participate in aerobic classes, Spanish lessons and crazy games in the water.

Conference room is available. Services with fees: Medical assistance (24 hours/day), Car, motorcycles and mountain bike rental, PADI scuba dive center in the hotel (all certifications), Rent-a-safe, Currency exchange, Telephone and tele-fax service, Boutique and gift shop.

Guests are welcome to use the facilities of both Tropical Beach & Tropical Casa Laguna.
Useful Information on Distances
The hotel is 25km from Airport Puerto Plata (POP). Shuttle bus service to and from Cabarete (several times a day). Shuttle bus to Sosua (10.15 a.m.), from Sosua (4.20 p.m.)
Please Note
The buffet restaurant will remain closed for breakfast & lunch for the period between mid September & mid December. During this time guests can make use of the restaurant El Arrecife of the sister hotel Tropical Beach Hotel, which is right across the road from the Tropical Casa Laguna. Pane Y Olio & Viva Zapata are at the disposal of the clients for dinner.
