Blue Sea Hotel was clean and comfortable location was great. On the edge of the main resort of Kamari, which meant it didn't suffer noise from the town or passing traffic.
3 minutes walk from the beach and beach front bars.

Top Tip If you don't want to be pestered by waiters trying to get you into their bar/restaurant, right next to the hotel is the Andreas Taverna, which to my mind is the best restaurant in the town. (Having tried a lot of the others). Menu is extensive.
If you want a quiet drink, (before your evening meal), The Hotel Akis round the corner from the Blue Sea is the place to go.
Take the bus to Fira the capital, the shopping area is fabulous. You can buy anything from a baseball cap, to gold jewelry which could seriously dent your bank balance. Head for the Old Port. You come out on the edge of the caldera, overlooking the volcano. You will see why hotels on the edge of the caldera will cost you a £1000 a week to stay there. The view is breath taking.

Typically Greek hotel, exactly what we expected from the reviews. A new cooker hob would be good though. Very clean hotel, clean sheets at towels more regularly that other Greek hotels we have stayed at . Good value for money.

Top Tip Didnt like Taverna Andreas. More expensive than many restaurants and very average. We both very much liked the Navy Bar and the Hook Bar, both did very good meals.

The hotel was very fine apart from the fact that the walls were a little thin so we were woken up a lot by the family next door. Also the breakfast was very limited, only bread and butter with a few condiments and nothing else. I would have liked to have been offered some fruit, especially as the hotel did have fruit salad on it's bar menu.

Top Tip We had a great night at 'The No Name SteakHouse', it was a typical greek night with smashing plates and dancing, the staff were great, the food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. They really made it a fun night.

Blue Sea Hotel was, I suppose, what you come to expect from a Greek hotel. Upon arrival, both my girlfriend and I looked at each other with a sort of "oh dear" expression. The room was quite small despite booking self catering for 2/3 people. The decor was a little tatty, the furniture was old wooden and the tv was ancient.

However, after a 2 minute walk down to the front and a cocktail in Navy's bar, we realised that in fact this didn't matter too much. We would be spending little time in the room and the location and resort was perfect for our needs.

In fact, we spent more time than anticipated in the room, drinking on the balcony of an evening and relaxing there with the air con turned up full.

Would I stay there again? Possibly not. There were hotels in teh area that looked nicer, however I wouldn't let this put you off, as the vast majority of hotels in Kamari looked to be of a very similar standard and Kamari was the perfect resort for me (36) and my girlfriend (25). It offered a massive seletion of bars and restaurants along the front stretch and even after 11 nights there we had a list of restaurants that we still wanted to try.

Santorini is a fabulous island, beautiful views and Kamari was a great resort to stay in. We will be going back to Kamari, but may look for a slightly more luxusious hotel.

Top Tip My favourite restaurant was Nicoteri. It was on the main drag aonlg the front and was recommended in one of the local tourist mags. It was priced similarly to all the other restaurants along the front, but the standard of food and service couldn't be faulted. I ordered teh stuffed squid and it was my favourite meal of the holiday.

The studios we were allocated were very basic. The beds could have done with new matteresses, and new cutlery, there was no kettle, but on this small island you don't expect one. There was a good cleaning service and linen was changed every other day. We did'nt use the bar but the prices looked very good. We were in a building apart from the main hotel an add advantage was the pool which was seperate from the main one, there were also plenty of sunbeds and shades. In all fairness for the price we paid we got value for our money. Thank you Travel Republic for dealing with our booking.

Top Tip On this little island you are never far from plces of interest. Most of the restaurant are good. If you like the black sand the beaches are never crowded.

We went self catering, however there were so many places to eat locally at reasonable rates we always went out. Only exception was breakfast, but you don't need to cook Cornflakes!
Take a travel kettle. (Or use a saucepan for your coffee or tea)!
Hotel was situated on the outside but close to the town so noise was at a minimum. Great location.
Visit everywhere on the island, the sunset at Oia, the ruins at Akritiri and particularly Fera. At Fera head through the shops to the old port. The view out over the Caldera and the Volcano is jaw a dropping experience.
We WILL be going again!!!

Top Tip Next to Blue Sea Hotel is the Taverna Andreas. For the main meal of the day don't bother with the beach side Tavernas. The range, and quality of the food here is outstanding. Our holiday was the last week of the season and every night the place was full.
If you want a drink before going for something to eat, the Hotel Akis has a bar only front (No Food). Down the road to the town and first left. You can't miss it!

We travelled to Santorini as group going to a wedding. The reception area of the hotel was ok. The rooms can't even be described as basic. The hairdryer had smoke coming from it (quite funny at the time). We just about had a fridge in the room. The worst thing about the hotel was the shower. It was salt water. You really felt like you couldn't get clean. Other hotels around kamari had fresh water showers. Also there were big bugs in my babies cot. When i requested a new cot the lady just said they come from the flowers and looked at me as if this was ok. I have stayed in some poor hotels but this was the worst. The pool was nice.

Top Tip Go to Andreas or Classic. The food was very good in both these restaurantes

Hotel was basic, but fine. Slightly old fashioned. Sparse self catering facilities. Was close to everything we needed, yet set back which was nice. Very deep swimming pools, as with all in greece.

This is a beatiful hotel in the old style greek decor Kept & run by the presant owners to a high standard. The rooms were cleaned and the sheets and towels changed dailey.
Ok The cooking facilities and shower were basic but worked well. With two swimming pools and a stunning bar lounge beautiful gardens we realy enjoyed our short stay.
This hotel is at the south end of Kamari just off the main front nice and quite yet only a few minutes walk to the beach. If we go back we would definity choose the Blue Sea again.

Top Tip Down the steps past the second swimming pool turn left 50 metres to Andreas Taverna,
the best Taverna in Kamari we tried others but this place for us had everything we wanted except the sea veiw. Great food, great ambiance, wonderful service from George, the owner along with his brother and father. Try the sardines starter Wow !.
We reserved a table for the rest of holiday.
Santorini is a beatiful Island but don't forget to take good hiking shoes.

Extremely welcoming. Good standard of accommodation. Quiet location, but only 100m from the beach. Some aspects are a little dated, our bath mat had more rips and holes than it was complete, but it's no great hardship in the scheme of things. This is our second year there.

Top Tip For great food go to see Katarina and Stella at Danas [?????S in Greek] it's on the small road leading out of Kamari that you take to climb the mountain to see the ancient ruins. Tell them that Andrew and Ian sent you!

When in Fira don't eat in the rip-off establishments overlooking the caldera, watch the sunset for nothing; there's plenty of space by the main church. For good food go to Dionysus in Atlantis, lovely terrace overlooking the rest of the island; it's in a side street leading up towards the cable car, opposite the Koo Club. Try the lamb chops, they expect you to pick them up and chew, just like your mum taught you and for desert their own baklava is a must.

The hotel was basic however, suited what we were looking for out of this particular holiday.

Top Tip The apartments were in a fantastic location. We were a two minute walk to the beach, bars and restauarants. Top tip: Irini's was a great restaurant and well worth a visit!!!!! Brilliant Holiday - would go back in a minute!!!!!

For pure location, the Blue Sea can't be bettered. You are literally 100 metres from the beach, one of two bus stops is about 20 metres away and you are right by the main stretch of restaurants (though far enough away not to have to endure the hustle and bustle). The self-catering facilities are basic but suited our needs and for the money, it was a bargain. It has two swimming pools and is run by a trio of charming women. Ideal for exploring the rest of Santorini or just lazing by the beach.

Top Tip As you walk down to the beach from the Blue Sea there are two restaurants on either side, which are excellent. We avoided Remy on the left for a while, thinking it would be too expensive. We were wrong. It does fantastic food (better than we find in many top London restaurants) and is well worth going to. If you want something different from the standard Greek fair, I would definitely go there.

Navys on the other hand does high quality pizzas and pasta. It's thatch alcoves are a relaxing hang out during the day and there is a good atmosphere there in the evening. Friendly service and great drinks too.

Other restaurants are good, they are just your typical Greek tourist fair and only Remy truly stands out for food.

We definitely recommend Fira (go on the boat ride to the volcano and make sure you pack your swimming costume - they sail round the other side of the volcano and allow you to dive in the water, swim to the shore and cover yourself in warm mud. The mud is apparently therapeutic, but who cares, it's great!). Oia is also fantastic, the quiet and clean version of Fira.

It was what we expected. The lady that ran the hotel and I assume her daughter were lovely; very helpful and welcoming.

The hotel had two nice pools and the rooms had air conditioning which was needed in July.

No complaints at all - quite the contrary.

Top Tip The bus to Thira and back were great and very reasonably priced.

If you want to go to Ancient Thira (just a mile or so from Kamari) book a minibus at the top of the main street rather than walking. It was too hot to walk at midday.

Lots of very good restaurants selling great food, coffee and crepes.

Excellent holiday.
