Good 3 star hotel close to all the restaurants and bars but a tricky road to cross to get there! Friendly staff and the buffet breakfast is adequate. Meals in the hotel can be priciy but the more you buy the cheaper it becomes. We just bought bar snacks and ate out every night so we have different options.
We recommend a water taxi from Calis to Fethiye and also the Blue Bays boat trip is a must. Restaurants are pricy and we found that the ones who offered free drinks etc worked out more pricy than the ones that didn't so beware! Bella Mamas is a good well priced Italian and try Denace the Menace, friendly people.
2 reasons why not suitable for familes are the pool (1.5 metres) and the rooms were to small for family
Distance from beach and restaraunts ....about 300 to 400 metre
In general the rooms were of a reasonable size and were well maintained and clean, the breakfast was typically continental and always plenty .Around the pool was pleasant with enough sun beds to the amount of guests.
Our 1 and only gripe would be that they refused me to take coke zero to room which I had because of diabetes which rankled because we had seen people take 5 ltr bottles of water unchallenged....this did not detract from the good nature of hotel.
Top tip would be dont buy food and drink at Dalaman Airport...prices are rip off.
There are plenty of good and varied restaurants to suit most tastes.
We enjoyed Mammas Italian restaurant on the front at Calis beach
It was quite a walk to the beach and town centre across a busy dual carriage way. No drawers in room for clothes so had to live out of suitcase as only enough room to hang one lot of clothes in wardrobe. Shower leaked all over floor and although we told reception this was never repaired during our weeks stay. The staff in the hotel were pleasant but the staff at the pool bar were not. We had no please or thankyou from any of the pool bar staff and they semed to have their favourites who had their undivided attention. My water purchased to brush my teeth was confiscated on our way into the hotel and we were told we had to buy the water from the hotel which was twice the price of the local shop. Never had that before after staying in Turkey for last 6 years. (not at the Pelin)However air con was very efficient, room was very clean and pool was lovely. For the price the hotel was ok as we only slept there as we ate out every day and spent days on beach but we have stayed in better for not much more money.
Eat at Sunset Cafe on promenade at Calis and Bella Mama - Fantastic service and good price. For a lovely romantic meal for just a little more money (but not too much) eat at the SAT beach club at the very end of the promenade towards Fethye. Eat out on the jetty at night. Beautiful view, amazing service and steak to die for. Tiramasu is a must. Water taxi is fun but very expensive at 5 lira each way. Try it once at night as views of Fethye superb. However a Dolmus only costs 1.5 lira each way.
The hotel was excellent value for money. Very enjoyable stay. had a nice room, although not overlooking the pool as requested.
The Hotel breakfast had a good choice and sserved onthe roof terrace outside which was pleasant, only fault was they were offering freshly squeezed orange juice but it wasnt made clear that this was extra and would be charged to the room.
The boat trip we booked from a stand on the beachfront. Departed from Fethiye harbour and was excellent value for money. paid 20turkish lira. Maximum was 45 people on the boat (carol & tanyan), plenty of shaded seating area and sunbeds for those that wanted them. Lovely lunch of either trout or chicken salad and pasta served buffet style.
very comfortable stay with friendly staff, next holiday their already booked.
Surf cafe at the Northern end of Calis just a 5min bus ride away. Great food and very
friendly staff, a little piece of paradise.
The hotel was simple but lovely. The staff were fantastic and really make the place a great hotel. The location was perfect for what we wanted - a quiet and relaxed holiday. The beach is no more than a 5 minute walk and the bars and restaurants on the promenade provide a good choice for any holiday goer. There were very few families with young children staying at the hotel at the time we were there, and while I have no problem with children, it was lovely to stay in a quiet 'grown up' hotel and enjoy the relaxed and chilled pool environment. The pool is a great size and there were always enough sun loungers available. The pool bar is also excellent and the staff were happy to show all World Cup matches suring our stay - even though Turkey weren't playing! The selection of food provided in the hotel was fantastic and vegetarians are catered for very well. I cannot fault this hotel or its current staff base.
A bar called Scarlet is no more than a 10 minute walk from the hotel and has a great loungey area with a free pool table outside on the verandah - a nice bar/club for any age.
Clean hotel with good facilities. Big pool, nice bar area. nice buffet restaurant on top of hotel. Easy walk to beach, you have to cross a main road however there is a traffic light controlled crossing just outside the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. If you like tea take your own teabags as hotel doesn't have these.
Mimosa beach club and restaurant has free sunbeds and umbrellas. Try a boat trip Popeye or Olive Oyl are very good with great food.
This is the third visit and we are always welcome by all the staff. The food is good but I think things are not as good as they were last year, they are trying very hard and they offer a fish menu to compete with a lot of the restaurants at a reasonable price. We had a lovely lady who came into clean our rooms on a daily basis putting flowers on our beds and she even showed us how to make the swans and butterflies. Always helpful and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff we will definately go back to the Pelin Hotel again. They were brilliant with my father in law so much respect in every way.
A lovely walk along the beach at Calis with lots of nice restaurants. The water taxi into Fethiye is a must, walk along the harbour and you will see some turtles you may even see some dolphins if your lucky. Be sure to visit the old town car cemetery and duck pond.
Our stay at the Pelin Hotel was truly relaxing and very nice.
Upon arrival at 4am I was a little concerned because it felt like the hotel was a little bit stuck on it's own and the room felt a little small...however... The following morning we saw that the hotel was very clean, the outside space where the pool is looks very pretty and well kept. The air conditioning was good in the room and you definitely need it out there!
The staff couldn't have been more genuine and helpful, I have to admit we were truly amazed at the customer service we received. The hotel is only rated as a 3* and I think it was very good for a 3* considering the cleanliness and quality of the food at breakfast and dinner.
The food at breakfast was a little limited but hardly a low point from the holiday.
We took a boat trip from Fethiye around 12 local islands which was amazing. There was food provided and the boat made several stops to swim in the sea and have a look around. We were picked up from outside out hotel at 9:30am and we arrived back at 6:30pm. It was a thoroughly wondeful day out and for only £10 each it was a bargain.
There are people by the beach is calis selling these trips and they seem very reliable. After we'd booked the trip we did see some for less than £10 but we still felt we'd had a bargain.
for the money we paid i would say excellent
Hotel was lovely, however it was a bit regimented. A more informal approach from the hotel would be nice.
Many of good restaurants.
Bella Mama's, Harem, to name a couple.
Twelve island cruise was good, Kaya village, Little buses are great and run often. Water taxi makes a nice change too.
We asked for a room over the pool last July and when we got there was told not possilbe as all booked. But our room was basic, but big enough for us to use.
The Surf Cafe is a great day out, so chilled, lots of watersports and a camel ride if you are brave enough! My kids went canooing, camel riding, we stayed for a barbi in the evening, it was lovely.
The Hotel Pelin in Calis is a wonderful hotel excelent food spotlessly clean and staff very helpful housemaids looked after us great.
great little resturants along the west side of the beach free sun loungers as long as you buy something to eat.
A good value Hotel. Very clean and well run. Good friendly service from all the staff, and would recommend, and would return. Our son booked a single room and he was alocated a very large room with a king size bed, all for £42 per week for bed and breakfast.
The promenade was full of nice resturants all offering similar menus at a reasonable price. One resturant called SATS which was at the far end of Calis beach was of a high standard with outstanding views at sunset, with good quality food, worth paying that little bit more for someting special.
Friendly staff, good food, good maid service. Good sized pool excellent for swimmers, not so for non-swimmers as 1.5m deep end to end.
Calis Beach good location and easy to visit other areas via Dolmus ie., Fehtiye and Hisoronou and Olu Deniz. Pebble/grit beach not so clean. Sea lovely and warm but watch out for rocks getting in and out.
This is the third year that we have stayed at The Pelin and we found our holiday to be as good as ever. The reception manager and her team are lovely people who cannot do enough for you. Domestic staff keep the rooms clean and tidy, with frequent fresh linen and towels. Restaurant waiters are efficient and courteous.,
Breakfast was plentiful including a wide range of hot and cold options. Evening meal consisted of delicious soups followed by chicken, turkey or fish dishes accompanied by a variety of salads and vegetables. There were a number of sweets to follow plus fresh fruit.
The hotel continues to represent good value for money, in a pleasant and friendly environment.
The surf club is great place to relax in sunshine or shade whilst watching the kite and wind surfers. There is waiter service, to deliver drinks to your free sunbed, and a choice of snacks that can be purchased from the lunchtime menu. An ideal way to have an occasional rest from boat trips, min bus excursions and shopping in Fethiye.
A very nice hotel,we were h/b,we found the food very nice and adequate, the rooms were very clean and changed daily, the pool was huge with plenty of sunbeds with outside bar and very competitive prices, there is a busy main road to cross outside the hotel to get to the main street and restaurants/beach bars, the lighting along the road is very poor at night and would be a problem for wheel chair users/chidren,in the daytime you can choose your own route for your own safety, over all,we would recommend this hotel without any concerns.
euro property estates, gunisik restaurant for cheap quality food, edy's silver shop, oceana bar,and the orient express/nil bar restaurants.
Excellent value for money hotel, although rooms are basic. Would stay again.
We were in Turkey for 4 weeks in October 2009, moving around from place to place to get a real feel for the Turquoise Coast, our first stay was at the Pelin Hotel, and, because we liked the area and the hotel and the staff and the facilities so much, we returned for the latter part of our holiday. We cannot praise the staff enough for their attentive service, helpfulness, information and friendliness. We grew particularly fond of both Asu and Emel on reception, who were always happy to help and always with a smile 24x7. The rooms were kept spotless, towels changed whenever you wanted. and linen changed more regularly than we expected. We were on bed and breakfast for the first week, and the buffet breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, fresh, well cooked and presented. We paid for the evening buffet one night (a reasonable £10 pp) and again, lots of choice, well cooked, and much attention to detail in the presentation and setting out of the buffet area. The dining room waiters were excellent, always pleasant, courteous, friendly and quick to remove plates etc. The chef is so cute! and always out checking and replacing where necessary and tidying up and re-setting. On our return visit we booked half board, and it worked out at £4 pp, what great value it was. The cleaners were unobtrusive, smiling, and they welcomed us back on our second stay with open arms. They made some amazing swans with the towels, and arranged the beds and towels differently every day - such attention to detail. The accountant (manager?) was a lovely man, and all the staff seemed very proud of their hotel and made sure all areas were constantly clean and tidy and welcoming. The pool/pool bar/snacks was superb, and because it was end of season when we were there, we had the pool to ourselves, though we did go the the beach a few times too. The only downside was the hanging space (or lack of it!) and only 1 drawer (small) in the one bedside cabinet. There was plenty of shelf space in the wardbobe and we improvised very well by hanging a few garmets on each hanger and putting the hanger over the top of the inside of the wardrobe door - sorted! The rooms were very spacious and on both visits we had a great and unobstructed view of the pool and bar area. The childrens playground was lovely, and it was a pleasant suprise to see rabbits, hens, ducks and chickens wandering about freely in the play area - such a nice touch for the children. It is a hotel we would bring our young grand daughter to and she would be delighted with the play area and the animals. The pool, whilst being very big, did not have a shallow end, or graduated steps, and was 5 feet deep at the shallow end - being only 5 foot myself, I couldnt stand up! No problem though, it was warm enough and there are step ladders at each end of the pool, and there was also lilo's and buoyancy aids provided. There is an adequate separate children's pool, great for them to splash about in. I had taken a lap top so I could keep in touch with family and book other accommodation, as I had read there was wi-fi at the hotel, it worked, and was great, it might cost you 7tl unlimited use, somehow we didnt pay - result! We will definitely be going back - at the price you pay via Travel Republic, and the facilities, service and staff at the hotel, we wouldnt stay anywhere else in Calis.
Calis is totally flat and great for walking around, and a walk to the market is a must. If you can manage it, you can walk in to Fetiye, which is worth the walk, and you can get a water taxi or dolmus back. The kerbs are very high on the main road, and could be difficult for the less mobile, although there is a pedestrian crossing near to the hotel. If you are looking for property there is no shortage of estate agents, who are not at all pushy. There is wi-fi in most bars-restaturants, you only have to buy a drink and its free. The beach was good, has plenty of sunbeds/parasols (5tl a day) and slopes gently in to the sea, which was warm, just try to avoid the cigarette ends! The wind tended to get up early afternoon which was a godsend when it was 35d+ (yes, it really was that hot in early October). We tried a lot of restaurants and it is difficult to recommend any outstanding ones as they are all very similar in menu and price. We liked the Italian restaurant attached to the Delta Hotel on the prom, and especially the lunchtime offer for 2 people of a very large pizza (any from the menu) and 2 beers/soft drinks for 7tl each (£3). We found Anna's to be the cheapest for drinks and the food was good too (walk up the promenade to where the water taxi's are, and its about 4 restaurants along on the promenade or opposite the water taxi's. Try the Merhaba (Hello!) restaurant on the prom if you want an English owned establishment, the owner is a really nice guy, and if you want information on living in Calis/Turkey, have a chat with him. We hired a car from Ege (on the main shopping street up from the taxi rank) they were very helpful, and you can also pick up the free local expat newspaper 'Land of Lights' there too - definitely worth a read, or, you can get it on line and register via email so you never miss a copy. English is spoken everywhere, though we would recommend you get a phrase book (cheaper on amazon.com than anywhere else) and at least learn the basics, it is very welcomed and well received, especially in rural areas/small villages. We would recommend a trip to Kalkan and Kas - totally different from Calis (we stayed in Kalkan as part of our trip) and do take one of the full day boat trips (we booked ours through Hamis McTurk (yes, that was his name), it is a lovely day out. The Turkish people as a whole are exceedingly frendly, helpful, kind, sincere, and courteous. As the English are generally reserved, do not take them as 'wanting something' - they dont want anything - they really are genuine, so embrace Turkey, the people, the customs and everything it has to offer with open arms and enjoy your time there. The only unwelcomed experience we had was with a very insistent jeweller who was very rude because we did not buy anything (in Icmeler). As well as booking the hotel through Travel Republic, we booked transfers from-to the airport, we were met-picked up at the times stated, and were very pleased with the transport provided, the cost was also very competitive.
All Hotel staff very friendly and helpful! Nice touches by the Maid service!
Rush's - right on Promenade for cushions for beach sun loungers and excellent service and meals. Great and very helpful staff!
