Excellent customer service with very friendly staff. Hotel is situated with excellent views of Edinburgh Castle from the balcony. Parking is very limited however.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Had a lovely stay at the Apex, we were upgraded on arrival which made our stay extra special, giving us a castle view and larger bed, shower etc... Breakfast was fantastic and we loved the table service. Whilst we there it was Easter Sunday, chocolate eggs were provide for all children and egg decorating activities!!

Would def stay again.

We have stayed several times in this hotel, and have always been pleased. The rooms are very comfortable (our room had a lovely view of Edinburgh Castle), the staff are attentive, and the hotel's restaurant is excellent, if you don't want to go out to dine. The breakfast too is always delicious, and you eat it looking across to the castle. A wonderful way to start the day.
And you get a rubber duck!!

The Apex International was ideally situated for a weekend break, near to the Museum, Castle, Royal Mile as well as busy bars and restaurants. Our room was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast provided was very nice too and the additional selection of continental breakfast was excellent too.

The hotel didn't have a character of it's own as such but for a good standard of accommodation in a great location for a break it did the job!

It can be fairly noisy in the street outside at night but the view of the castle from this hotel more than makes up for this!

Top Tip Try the 'Wee Windaes' on the Royal Mile for excellent qualioty Scottish dinner. We had the venison and it was excellent!

I recommend the Museum of Edinburgh too- free admission and some excellent family friendly displays.

Very disappointing and extremely overpriced for what was offered. We stayed at a budget hotel for the following three nights and found this more peaceful and no less generous in complimentary products. We had to go back up to reception to ask them to turn the tropicarium (sauna/steam room) on even though we'd specifically said we were going down to use this. The car park was full and the local NCP expensive

Top Tip Edinburgh castle although we only had a view of the car park where we were unable to park our car due to insufficient capacity.

excellent hotel, suitably located for all, can be noisey in evening but this was due to hotels private xmas partys going on. Restaurant has stunning views, we had twin room with 2 queen beds, 4 pillows & 2 cushions each, very very comfortable. Bathroom had bath & shower which was good, lots of cupboards for hanging clothes, tv with dvd player, hairdryer, iron & ironing board & trouser press all in bedroom. clean tidy comfortable & spacious. Breakfast was good, help yourself to cereal & juice whilst they cook you a full breakfast, excellent. Spa pool was nice after walking all day, tried sauna out, really good, could not fault at all.

Top Tip Camera obscura & ghost walk are a must when you in Edinburgh, they were very good value for money. Take comfortable shoes Edinburgh is not a flat city!

The Apex was an excellent hotel, very good value and very good for families. The location is excellent for tourists in Edinburgh- central but not too noisy at night.

Top Tip Dynamic Earth- one of the best tourist attractions we have visited.

Hotel was great we stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was excellent, you are seated and brought tea or coffee and toast, you can choose what you want from the continental breakfast, cereals, fruit, bread, pastries, fruitjuice etc. and also order from the menu, full cooked breakfast or an omlette or pancakes or belgian waffles etc. but the breakfast would be quite expensive if it is not included in your rate. The rooms are big and very clean with a queen size bed, tv and dvd player. There is also complimentary water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits left in the room. The hotel also has a range of dvds you can rent but it is £3.50 per dvd and there isn't much to choose from. The hotel is situated in a good area near plenty of bars and lots of novelty shops.

Top Tip The Castle is a must see and costs £10 per person, we really enjoyed it. We also did the City Sightseeing bus tour which is £10 per person and you can hop on and off for 24hrs which was quite useful for getting around as it stops outside the hotel, the castle, along Prince's Street etc. and runs every 15mins. We didn't do the Edinburgh Dungeons but were told it is very good. If you're planning on clubbing you should try Frankensteins, we had a great night but try to sit in a booth as the surrounding tables and chairs are removed at about 9.30pm to give more room for dancing as it fills up pretty quick after that. We also spoke to someone that said Oddfellows was also a good bar and much cheaper than Frankensteins. If you are planning on shopping go to Prince's Street, it's about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the hotel. This walk is ok when going downhill but is a bit difficult when heading back to the hotel as it is uphill. A taxi from the airport to the hotel is about £16 and the bus is £3.50 each. We took the bus to the last stop Weaverly Station, but almost collapsed walking up the hill towards the hotel with our cases.

This hotel was fantastic, rooms were not large but perfectly adequate, fantastic view of the castle and 4th and 5th floor rooms had balconies. I emailed to ask for a room upgrade and received a balcony as big as the room with first class views onto the castle. The location is fantastic with a good range of pubs and restaurants very close by. The breakfast is fantastic couldn't ask for more. In the room you are provided with free bottled water, pringles, jelly beans (the expensive ones), cookies all free each day. The room has slippers and dressing gowns and free access to the sauna and pool downstairs. Overall a fantastic holiday and hotel.

Top Tip The french deli across the street is very expensive and not what you would think from looking at it, the menu is things like snails!
Pub Black Bull is very very good would recommend for food and drinks staff very helpful.
Up the street is a restaurant Vittoria everyone recommends it and yes very tasty.
Jasmin Chinese (ask at reception) is fantastic, we ordered sweet and sour chicken and it was served in a carved out pineapple etc fantastic and not expensive would highly recommend!

The Roof-top restaurant provided a fantastic view of edinburgh castle and this was my favourite aspect of the hotel. The hotel is close to many of the main attractions in edinburgh and is only a ten minute walk away from the train station which was convienient. Other than the pool being a bit small for my liking, i cannot fault the rooms or the hotel in general. The staff were very friendly and i would definately consider revisiting or recommending to a friend.

Top Tip I would recommend the paranormal late nite tours every saturday night at Mary Kings Close. It is only a five minute walk from the hotel. Also Edinburgh dungeons is beside the train station and so is also just a short walk from the hotel. For anyone who loves shopping, the high streets with all the popular shops such as hmv or river island are also a short walk away, 80% of the time on the high street, you'll have a great view of the castle, which is also a five minute walk away from the hotel.

Had requested a quiet room. Allocated room 2051. Car park outside window. Each night we were woken at around 5am with recycling bins being emptied ie lots of bottles!!. Also road works early on. Plus a very noisy toilet every time it was flushed - the latter was reported on Sat but no-one came to look at it until Monday 10am. Slope outside window for residents to take their luggage to car park - again noisy.
Went out Sat evening at approx 11pm, switched off all room lights to come back around 2am to find all the room lights were on - reported next day but only explanation was that the change of staff may have gone in to room to check if toilet had been dealt with - albeit, we weren't but most people are asleep by 11pm and what could they have done at that time anyway???
Breakfast was always a queue and on Monday they had run out of stock.
Also, the mirror needs to be fitted beside the hairdryer.

Top Tip Brilliant location for all entertainment, pubs, restaurants.

The hotel was fantastic - We had a lovely room with a great view of the castle. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order (which you never find anywhere these days!) and was delicious. Staff were v.helpful and friendly, and when we had dinner in the hotel the restaurant manager came over to wish my husband a happy birthday! Would definitely recommend.

Top Tip Great location for sightseeing - the castle is really close by so great views from the hotel. 5 mins walk to loads of the places of interest, and really close to Holyrood Park if you just fancy a stroll. Walking distance to Princes Street for shopping too!
