The food was not brilliant, very often cold at breakfast, and no microwave facilities to reheat food.

Top Tip Great cafe close to the hotel called Legends, brilliant food at very reasonable prices

This hotel is very clean and well run. Staff friendly and helpful, but it is let down by the quality of food, which is average at best.

A great hotel, it was a return visit and I always think that the staff are very good and the hotel is very clean.
If there was any critique it is that the walls are rather thin so you can be disturbed by your neighbours.

Top Tip Try watching sunset on the beach from the Maui Beach Bar.

If flying into BCN don't book transfers for any resorts on the Maresme, use the train. Get a train into Barcelona Sants and then change for one that runs up the coast stopping at all resorts up to Blanes. It's incredibly cheap at EUR3.60!

Norman from Blairgowrie reviewed the Aqua Bella Playa Hotel
Check-in Date: 27/Apr/2010

My bedroom was clean, tidy and nicely furnished. The balcony was very well designed, with the accent on privacy from all sides. I could have spent a lot of time just relaxing on mine. The bathroom was perfectly suitable and I enjoyed a refreshing bath at night and early morning. I was very impressed by the evening and breakfast buffet meals. There is ample variety to suit all tastes and I certainly ate my fill.

Top Tip Besides having a great beach that I love standing on and looking back at the town, Malgrat de Mar boasts a market atmosphere, with innumerable shops selling leather goods and clothing of all sorts. There is an amazing variety of objects on display, just about everything you might want and bargains you might never expect to find at such astonishing prices. For $5 euros I bought a leather shoulder bag that would cost a lot more elsewhere, the workmanship and stitching of which is magnificent: a thing to be admired as much as put to good use. In April, just now, the holiday feeling pervades with people desirous of a springtime having clear blue skies and a warm sun all day. It is a glad sensation to walk to the nearby train station and stop off at many well appointed places along the coast from further north than there to further south than Barcelona, all within easy reach.

Frederick from York reviewed the Aqua Bella Playa Hotel
Check-in Date: 02/Aug/2009

for a 3* hotel it is very good, not many British holidaymakers - mainly Ggerman, Fench and Spanish therefore the resturant food tends to cater for their taste, that said, there is a good selection and quality of food is pretty good.
The main thing with this hotel is it is spotlessly clean, the staff are very friendly, pollite and helpful and in room air con is a real plus. the bathrooms are a bit old fashioned - no hairdrier and very basic over bath shower but plenty of hot water.
Beds are a bit on the hard side and bizarely are singles pushed together.
Overall pretty good value for what it is.

Top Tip beaches are a bit gritty - good mexican style restarant / bar on the beach within easy walking distance.
Waterworld at Lloret 20 mins drive and worth a day - get there early though, BIG queues.

Check-in Date: 20/May/2009

The hotel was very clean and tidy. Quiet area. Very friendly and accommodating. Food was ok but not great. No fridge. Hairdryer and Iron available at the reception and are not in the room. Entertainment quite good but started at 10pm. Pool's and pool side bar were excellent. Easy walking distance to shops and beach. 6 Floors and 3 lifts. Overall very nice hotel.

Top Tip There is a fantastic hugh supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk away which sells everything at reasonable prices. Also try Eurika Bar just of the main shopping area to the right. Great people, very friendly, cheap drinks and good entertainment.

Guy from Bordon reviewed the Aqua Bella Playa Hotel
Check-in Date: 27/Aug/2008

The hotel is situated in one of the less attractive places on the coast, the town offers very little, looks a bit rough.
We got a room on first floor overlooking what looks like a parking lot, and a very unattractive town. We asked to move and were declined.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was alright for what it was. The juice at breakfast were not natural, and other meals you had to buy drinks, even water.
The room smelled very strongly of impregnated smoke, despite us asking for a non smoking room.

Top Tip the nearest nice place is at least 30 mins. drive

Very good hotel, especially suitable for families. Slightly remote from rest of resort (couple of blocks to the seafront)

Top Tip Highly recomend Santa Christina just north of Malgrat. Beautiful cove with shallow sea and sandy beach. Hire a car and get there early - limited but free parking.

The hotel was excellent. Great pool area.

Rooms were adequate for 3*- clean and good sized

Staff were friendly although some at reception struggled to speak English

Breakfast was awful

Top Tip Excellent restaurant run by a friendly Welsh lady near the train station- right as you go out the hotel. I think it was called Casa Bella. We ate there 4 times!

The Bella Playa is a part of the Aqua Hotels and they have a very good standard.
We arrived after midnight and was greeted by very helpful receiption staff. We went to our room and were surprised to find a cold salad/a bottle of water/8x pieces of fruit/and bread rolls.
The rooms were cleaned every day and of a good size, we overlooked the local football ground which was used almost every day.
The Hotel was always spotlessly cleaned including the large pool area.
The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented, very good for a 3 star Hotel.
The bar staff were always friendly and the entertainment was OK.
This Hotel is well run with a good bunch of staff.
There wasn't many British people in the hotel, mostly Polish/German/Spanish,but this wasn't a problem at all.Mostly of the older age group.

S E from Great Yarmouth reviewed the Aqua Bella Playa Hotel
Check-in Date: 16/Oct/2007

The Hotel itself was quite nice and the staff very helpful but the food let it down. We didn't really expect anything different than normal spanish hotel type food and that is what we got - our disappointment was that the food was not overly hot as it was only kept warm by strip lighting some distance above the food which left some dishes looking distinctly unappetising after a while. I would add however that the meat, usually pork or veal, was beautifully cooked. It was also hard to distinguish if there were any vegetarian dishes on offer.
Malgrat is a nice place.

Top Tip Go to Barcelona on the train - 6 euros 20 for a return trip - takes an hour. Get off at Place de Catalunya. Be prepared to queue for sightseeing hop-on-hop-off buses but they are well worth it - 19 euros for one day 23 euros for two. The train is also easy to use if you want to go up the coast a bit.

Very Very good and it did everything it said on the tin.

Top Tip The local train station is only 5 minutes from the hotel and for a family pass for 5 people, it is only £3 return travel to Barcelona.
