Hotel room best views ever

This is a really lovely hotel overall. High quality furnishings in the rooms and public areas, very clean, nice staff and what a view! Every room overlooks Levante Bay and beyond, from balconies that have sliding windows that can be adjusted to suit the weather conditions. Decent furniture on balconies, too. BUT THE FOOD IS ATROCIOUS! We read the reviews before we went and found them to be mixed - some good and some not so good. We aren"t fussy eaters so decided to take a chance, as we know Benidorm quite well and we knew the hotel was in a lovely location. There was very little choice at both breakfast and evening meal, and the food was of very poor quality. The breakfast was probably the worst. The fruit juices had no taste whatsoever - just wet and incredibly sweet, and I think the coffee was made from gravy granules! The cereals were old, hard and stuck to the serving dishes. The "fresh" fruit was old as well. Covered in bruises and black spots. The fried eggs were rock hard, as were the baked beans and the bacon was really just fat with a little pink line running through it! Not a tomato in sight.
The evening meal was more low quality food, badly cooked. Dark brown squid rings, Brussels as big as golf balls and dried up pieces of fish and chops. The salad, which is usually so good on the Continent, was long past it"s sell by date. We handed in our meal tickets after two days, and told the Manageress of our disappointment over the food and that we thought it was really letting the hotel down, and that we would eat out from now on. She looked surprised and said she would speak to her boss, but we heard nothing from her after that. Maybe it was was a "well practised" surprised look.
On the Travel Republic booking site the Benikaktus is rated as 4 star, but on the front of the hotel and all the paperwork i.e. coasters, room cards etc, it only shows 3 stars, which makes us feel a bit misled. We could so easily have returned to the Palm Beach hotel where we stayed in May, which has good food and nice facilities, but chose to pay extra for the view from the Benikaktus, really expecting the food to be on the same level.
Having said all that, we would stay there again, but on a room only basis.
China Garden Chinese restaurant, almost opposite the Melia Hotel, always serves excellent food and is very good value for money. Also, the tapas bars in the old town for authentic Spanish food. Take the number 10 bus to Altea to see "real Spain".
I was actually housed in the Aries apartment block virtually next to the hotel. The room was huge with twin beds, and a double bed settee, but what made it was the view. The balcony was large and there was an uninterrupted sea and beach view. The room itself is in need of modernisation but it was spotlessly clean.
All meals were taken in the hotel. I've had better food in Benidorm but there was always something I could choose and I never went hungry!
The weather was so nice that I sat on the terrace outside the bar/entertainment room. You could still hear the music and see the cabaret but you had a fantastic view too.
Do take the number 10 bus to Altea and have a look around the hilltop town as well as the shops in the new part of town. It's then a nice stroll to Albir along the seafront with plenty of cafes along the way if you need a rest.
Nice break Lovely hotel Beautyful views Nice staff
Right beside the beach lovely promenade

benikaktus hotel overlooks levante beach. all rooms have sea view. steep hill not for the faint hearted but there is stairs going down to beach from the bar. hotel staff are on the whole excellent but watch out for female receptionist (if you can get her off the phone) she is abrupt and unwelcoming. all the biz is on your doorstep but the hotel is very peaceful. have been to this hotel 6 times and wouldn't go anywhere else.
if you want a change from local food try the grand national pub for superb meals and drinks at goods prices.
Most people staying were over 50 which didnt really suit us. However, it was very quiet and right on the beach with fantastic sea views so cant complain.
Both myself and friend were extremly pleased with the hotel room. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Before leaving we read other reviews that the hill was quite a climb, but i was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a pleasant and easy walk to the hotel.
There was a good choice of food with the evening meal and breakfast, it was very tasty and fresh.
The room was always clean, and before returning from breakfast the maid would have already been in. A lovely view from our balcony of the sea and beach.
I would recommend the bar, Cafe Benidorm for an evening out, its about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. They have a live cabaret show most nights, which we found very enjoyable.
Found hotel excellent.2nd year after previously staying at Don Poncho.Just as good & better value.
Very close to beach & all amenities.
Very friendly staff and lovely hotel in great location, however, disappointed in food. Would go back again perhaps not on a half board basis as there was many restaurants near by.
This hotel is not 4 star is 3. I would give 1 star. When I arrive I had to wait for the room 1.5 h. Staff not friendly, two small lifts which geting very busy on food time you can wit even 10min. Room not to bad but the aircondition very poor it was on all the time and the room was still hot. Juice drinks only on brekfast, swimming pool very small not space for swimming. The city and sea side beutifull I will come back again for sure but not for the same hotel.
Very nice beach clubs and city. So many English pubs and restaurance.
Hotel waiters not very friendly, bar staff short change you and refuse to accept they have done so.
We stayed for 10 nights and the hotel did not change the bed sheets once during our stay.
The lifts are so busy at meal times it was quicker to take the stairs, and we were on the 10th floor!!
Some super local restaurants. Local bus to the old town goes from just around the corner from the hotel and is 1.25euro. Zara shop in old town excellant for clothes shopping with fantastic prices.
This was good hotel in a good location with a great view across the sea. The only draw back to this hotel was the hill it was ok until after 1am when the bar closed they locked the door. which meant you had double the stairs to climb. The food was average.
Right next to levante beach
Nice clean hotel. Quiet location. Near the beach.
Food very basic with little variety and did not cater for children
Mc Donalds, the only suitable place where the kids ate
The hotel was very clean and kept tidy, the staff were friendly although they strugled a bit with english but did try. There was very little english guest and this meant that the hotel cateed more for the french and german food tastes, however we did manage to make do with what was on offer.
All in all everything went fine and we would return to the hotel in the future.
The Lavante beech was super and well maintained my tip would be to buy a bottle of frozen water when going to the beech from the ice cream shop along the front, it stays cool for a very long time and well worth the extra 10 cents.
O' and by the way their soft ice cream is wonderfull
