We appreciated the small, quiet hotel with some sound-proofing on the walls of our room and quite a thick door. However, room was small with little space for storing clothes etc. The worst aspect was a sloping ceiling over one half of our bed - it was difficult not to bang your head when getting out of bed and as a result, we left a light on at night. The view from our window was also dismal. There was only one UK satellite channel on the TV.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was in a small room and it was OK, although a bit overpriced if bought separately. One morning, there was no fruit cocktail and on another occasion, there was no bread - I was told that I could toast the biscuits!
In the same avenue as the top shops.

Hotel very central for the station and town. Not far to the beach -15 mins.
Clean and tidy, the rooms on the top floor a little small with low beams but still pretty good for the price.
clean and nice.no bar and no restaurant were the negatives.
beach was 1km away from the hotel.good part of it was near to train station.
Nice hotel for the money with very good staff. Also fairly centrally located for everything. The beach takes about 10min pleasant walk, as is the old city and the North.
We wanted a chill out 4 days without doing much. We used the Time Out shortlist guide for everything from pubs to restaurants.
Top Tip take plenty of money as with a weak pound you can be looking at £5 for a coffee, £6 to £8 for a pint of beer and £10- £15 for a bacardi and coke.
This hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpfull and friendly. The hotel was ideally situated about a 10min walk from the beach/promenade on on the very main shopping street in Nice. The hotel rooms were very well insulated from the outside sound of the lively cosmopolitan atmosphere. The hotel is surrounded by many very good resteraunts and bars as well as musuems, churches, art galleries etc. The old town in Nice is only 8mins walk away and during the day you can find a market and many resteraunts open till very late. However despite the hotel being quite good value for money Nice is very expensive expect to pay: 8euros for an drink, 15euros for a salad and around 25euros for a main course as well as 25-40euros for a much needed sunbed on the very pebbley beach. If you can live off fast food though you will be ok as a sandwich or fast food type burger can cost as little as 5euros, i however like eating quality food in reseraunts so am now skint - would i go again - YES!
Visit a small village just up the coast called "Eze" - very very scenic and a little cheaper than Nice.
Accommodation standard and much further from the old town than description and position on map indicated.
Small but good breakfast room and although a little limited in choice all fresh and plentiful.
Very helpful staff who could speak good english.
Use new tram to Massena stop and if a special occasion or with a little extra money have cocktails at the top of the Grand Aston Hotel.
A fantastic hotel with superb staff. They were friendly and efficient and went out of their way to try to help us sort out a trip to St Tropez without going on an organised trip. The hotel is in an excellent location for the train station and the tram stop to take you to the bus station or the beach and the old town and the new town is a mere 5 minutes walk away. A terrific atmosphere in both.An excellent continental breakfast was served by two very pleasant ladies.
Buy a 4 euro bus ticket to use all day on the bus and tram. What value.!
My favouite place only two train stops and 1.50 euros each way is Villefranche sur Mer.
Lovely beach with beachside cafes and restaurants.
Large room, huge comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with plenty of complimentary toiletries. Excellent breakfast. Service very friendly and helpful.
decent room,breakfast and service.
tram stops 100 mtrs either side of hotel( 1 near railway staion )which connected to bus routes making travel easy
Really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alba. The room was well appointed and kept very clean and tidy. Very glad of the air conditioning, and the room safe, both used during the week. The choice of breakfast food options was excellent, from freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, croissant, bread and pain au chocolate, continental meats etc etc, enough to start the day in style.
We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained. A small lift is available for those who find stairs difficult.
Breakfast was served over 2 or 3 hours and was self-service. There was a wide choice and ample amounts of food which was all fresh each morning.
The hotel was about a fifteen minute walk to the beach but the tram stop is only a short walk from the hotel door and this goes close to the sea front and to the bus station. The hotel is also about a five minute walk from the train station. So we had a choice of transport for sight-seeing.
The hotel is on a main street and, apart from the shops and restaurants on the street itself, the old and new town are only a 10 minute walk (or short tram journey away).
We would certainly recommend the hotel to others.
On some websites this hotel was rated a 4 star, I would rate it only 2 star. The room was small with a very large hanging wardrobe but no draws to put away shirts, tops etc. There was a lift in the hotel which only worked one day out of the three. There was no bar in the hotel. On the plus side the staff were friendly and very helpful and the breakfast was good if you avoided the hot food. The hotel was in a good location close to the station and loads of restaurants.
Buy a 4 euro day bus ticket (can on the trams as well) for as many trips as you want in one day, great value. Get the bus to and from the airport (No. 99) with the same 4 euro ticket as against 33 euros each way by taxi.
Very friendly small hotel with very helpful staff
easy walking distance to all main areas and very close to Railway Station
