Online giant TravelRepublic.co.uk has unveiled its top 20 hotels in 2009 – as determined by its customers. There are now over 165,000 independent hotel reviews on the site with hundreds more being added every day.

Customers can only post a review on TravelRepublic.co.uk once they’ve made a booking and returned home. This makes the reviews 100% authentic and not open to manipulation.

When reviewing a hotel customers are asked to rate their experience from one (terrible) to five (excellent). To be eligible a hotel needed to receive at least 25 reviews during the year.
