The hotel was great.
Breakfasts were very good.
The package was very reasonable given the strength of the euro.
Although the hotel is out of the city centre there is an excellent tram service with good value travel cards available.
Amsterdam is a lot more than cafes and the red light district!!!

My only concern was the disabled toilet was a disgrace and the receptionist's response was unacceptable. ie "we dont use it that often."

Top Tip Ask for a one day tram ticket as soon as you arrive then go to the centre and get a 3 day ticket - best value ever.

Cheap hotel not too far from the centre, easy access via tram.Rooms could be better, some have no opening windows which can be a bit claustrophobic.Cheap furniture, etc but you get wat you pay for.Breakfast not bad if you get it all incuded.Expensive car park.
Would happily stay there again though because of the price and access to town.

The hotel was clean and tidy, if your expecting something fantastic for your money! Don't. The photos of the rooms were quite misleading! The breakfast was really quite impessive, offering a variety of food, from continental, cereal, or cooked breakfast. Please be aware that the hotel is a 20 min tram ride away from the city centre, this could be a positive attribute if you like quiet, depending on where you are situated in the hotel as the side of the hotel faces a busy motorway!

Top Tip Tram 2 is the tram that you need to get from the city centre!!! Hope you find this useful if you decide to reside at this hotel!!! Saves you waiting in line at the tourist information centre. You need to get off at Westlantgroghtstraa

It was not in the centre but was easily accessed by tram. We really enjoyed staying here- basic but nice hotel. If you want to party heaps then probably better to stay in town, also hotel not really a place to meet people- if you're after that.
We are a 30yr old couple. Went out late one of the 4 nights we were there and caught taxi home, other nights we were home around midnight.
Amazing city- had such a great time. The hotel offers everything we wanted for the time we were there- tv, good shower, comfy beds, breakfast. We would stay again.

Top Tip DO the fit tire bike tour in the countryside. Anne Frank museum essential- amazing. You can book tickets in advance online and save the massive queue!! If you don't then go early!! Van Gogh museum really good- even my fiance enjoyed it. We just did everything we could.

Hotel was a long way from town centre. Trams and taxi ride took about 1/2 hour and worked out quite expensive. Hotel was clean but very basic.Amsterdam is very expensive. Pint of beer approx £6, McDonalds meal £10 per meal be warned!

Hotel Hem was excellent. The staff were second to none.
Nothing was too much trouble.I arrived earlier than the stated check-in time, the receptionist checked if the room was ready, and as it was I was allowed immediate occupation.
The hotel is situated in the suburbs, about a 20 minute tram ride, which in itself was enjoyable. It is on the "all night" bus route, which is handy if you are visiting the "sites".
The hotel even give you their card with bus routes and directions on it.
All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Hem to anybody, irrespective of age or gender.

Top Tip The local tram/bus route which was frequent, immaculate and cheap.
