“ Great little hotel in a side street on the outskirts of Naples, most parts of the city accessible on foot within half an hour (if you don't mind crazy traffic-dodging!). Maxime is a good host, very knowledgeable and always ready to help out - he recommended a local restaurant to us which was excellent.

San Francesco al Monte is a unique hotel due to it once being an ancient monastery. It has now been transformed into a beautiful hotel that has preserved the evocative atmosphere of its past. The hotel offers a panoramic position that embraces the entire city from the centre to the ancient gulf with its islands and Vesuvius. All of the 45 rooms, as well as the restaurants and terraces, have spectacular views. Where the hotel touches the green hill of San Martino, the hotel features a swimming pool (open 15/5-15/9 from 9am to 5pm) and garden: it is an oasis of well-being and peace with breath-taking views. A second, smaller pool, cut from the tuffaceous rock, offers hot water and beneficial jets.

The hotel was built in 1870 and renovated in 1986 and consists of 80 rooms spread over 5 floors. Hotel facilities include lifts, a bar and a restaurant with non-smoking area as well as a garage (for an additional fee).
