great hotel for what you pay. went half board and the food is not great, but you couldn't expect more for the money. breakfast is the same everyday and was just about bearable for an 8 day stay. Even the baked beans are horrible, eggs best of a bad bunch probably. buying our own jam from local supermarket (cheap one, eroski, is 3 mins walk away) helped make the toast & mini croissants better. dinner was very varied each night although again not the most amazing quality, always one main dish that was good if your not fussy, however the vegetables are the usual mass cooked overcooked type. we could not distinguish between carrot, broccoli or green beans etc. just called it mush and gave up trying to eat it after 2 days. on the plus side salad bar was great, great melon, pineapple and cake for desert as well as 4 flavours of ice cream!
as it's not much more to go HB over B&B it doesn't feel so bad if you eat out a few nights for a change.
everything else was superb- location great, pool big enough and enough sun loungers to go around even if you don't get up with the keenos to reserve before breakfast. music is played down by the pool from around midday, but it's not that loud. a lifeguard is on duty all day.
hotel is only 2 mins walk from palmanova beach, local shops, ATM. about 10 minutes walk to magalluf strip or BCM square which is what we went for. turned out taxi is only 3-4 euro but we walked in/back every night. very safe even alone or for girls. Banana Joe's is 30 seconds from the hotel and the main young persons bar in palmanova and is like the bars in magalluf open till late, bangin music, free shots etc etc..
we had a 3 person room which is a just a double room with a 3rd bed put where the drawing table would usually be, this makes space tight but there is still ample storage space and lots of room on the balcony. it seems they try to put young groups on the 1st floor (we had to be asked to be moved- got 5th floor) and sensible people higher up, however some of the tour operators have an agreement their clients get a pool view and/or higher floors etc so sometimes you may end up with a loud group of arrogant, stupid 'lads' (there were some, but nothing compared with what you find in Magalluf) next to a couple or family. the double (two single mattresses on a solid bed block) rooms and quadruple rooms looked great.
we had maids in daily and they even come back in the afternoon if you want to sleep in and put a do not disturb sign up. most importantly the security of valuables/cash in rooms is fine, we did not even bother using the room safe. heard of no problems from others. it helps allot that it is virtually impossible to climb from balcony to balcony. the aircon pretty much doesnt work and we got warned that is makes you ill, but not until our 5th day. this figured as two of us got nasty coughs/colds and still have them. Local bar staff etc say most people get it when they get back home? strange, but as it doesn't really work anyway we switched it off soon as we found out and it made no difference to room temp, in fact it was better as there was no humming noise.
staff helpful and lifts worked great, bar staff great, British TV in bar and always helpful staff at reception 24/7.
in total it must be the food that makes this a 2*, because compared to the 3* (especially in Maga) this was fine. if looking at hotel tropico aswell (we did) choose don bigote!
Having never been to Palmanova/Maga before I found reviews crucial in hotel choice, so hope this one was useful.

if you like cycling or running there is an amazing pathway linking all the resorts. out of the hotel go left up the hill, turn right at the end and you will come to it at the next junction (roundabout) you come to. turn left to go towards Magalluf (and waterparks,karting track) or right towards Portals Nous.
You can pick up free 4 euro discount vouchers for marineland/aqualand/western water park at the eroski supermarket 2 mins (left) from the hotel. 5 litres of water is 70 cents there.
if going to BCM, go into any shop (plenty on the way) with their A frame poster outside and they give you a 3 euro discount voucher.
if you want a rep to leave you alone when walking along the Maga strip and they ask you where you're going just say Burger King or KFC depending on which way you're walking!

Fantastic hotel, entertainment good, food excellent something different everyday. You have to get up very early for a sunbed though. Beach was lovely 2 minute walk from hotel. Not suitable for youngsters if in groups has it's a family hotel. Would definately go there again.

Palma nova beach is lovely, sunbeds on beach cost 10.80 euros for two.

had a brilliant time here - food was out of this world - so near the beach & all shops, bars , supermarkets etc - would definitely be back!!!
