Gloria from Sanderstead reviewed the Hostal Nereida Hotel
Check-in Date: 30/May/2010

Just returned during 1st week in June 2010. Very hot week! Although the hotel is only 2* it is very nice, lovely sea views. The people were very friendly, breakfast was plentiful and facilities clean and presentable. It is in an ideal location near to the port and the nearest beach is a fair walk away but small, nice and safe for families. We made full use of the hotel swimming pool which was great and not used much by other guests as it is behind the hotel in a secluded area in a nice setting. Porto Petro is great, lots of very nice restaurants and food very good in most of them. Will definitely return we loved the area and would not hesitate to stay in the Nereida again as it is worth the climb up to the 2nd floor! Basic but very good.

Top Tip Goood restaurants -Tapas Bar on sea front Es Bergant, The Miramar, Cala Mondrago beach is just brilliant for families. But beware of sunbeds and unbrellas which they charge 15euros per day for 2 ! most expensive ones we came across! The transport booked by Travel Republic from Palma direct to the hotel by Transunion is very good and well worth the cost. Costs in Majorca like anywhere have gone up considerably so be prepared and take enough euros!

This is a lovely little hotel. Very clean and well kept. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is its own 'little oasis' with a bar. Very quiet and peaceful. sunbeds and umbrellas.

Top Tip some lovely little restaurants. One which overlooks the harbour where you can eat upstairs, Bread, olives and alioli for one person 1euro 50. how can you refuse!!!

Very friendly, clean hotel. In centre of Porto Petro which is lovely. Pool area is very quiet and relaxed - a great place to chill out.

Top Tip Beware of Travel Republic's booking terms and conditions. We booked flight + hotel and flights were unavailable so we ended up having to spend over £200 extra or lose our accommodation money. We also waited 2 hours at airport for transfer because transfer company had not been informed about our changed flight times. Holiday was lovely though!

Immaculate and clean hotel. Cleaners in every day with a change of towels. Owners very nice and extremely helpful. Pool area pretty. Breakfast the same each day but plentiful. Only down side is lack of air-conditioning. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Was very pleased with what we got for the price.

Top Tip Owner of the restaurant Peuto Petro (in elevated position on the corner furthest from the hotel) very friendly with good food and served with funny appreciative noises. Made us laugh every time.

Although the accommodation is average (at best), you will not leave this hotel disappointed. It's Spain as it was some 20 odd years ago. Very laid back and honest. Very friendly staff and for what one pays, incredible value for money, in what is a fairly upmarket area.

Top Tip Eat at La Caracola, if what you're looking for is typically Spanish AND at the right prices. Otherwise, any other restaurant will gladly take your money and give you very little in return (average for 2 about 45 Euros with one or two drinks) of a mediocre standard. Eating out in Spain (in tourist areas) has become very, very expensive and very hit and miss. Although Cala Mondrago is a fantastic beach, the beach bar is vastly overpriced on many items. Not that we wanted it, but beans on toast @ 6.90 euros was a complete and utter P take.
Quite frankly, I think the Spanish have totally forgotten what made them so popular with holiday-makers and need to wake up a bit. They're taking too much for granted.

Unfortunatly we were not able to stay at this hotel as we had to cut short our trip for family reasons.

The Hostal Nereida is a quaint 50 year old hotel and visitors should expect nothing flashy, just an old-fashioned welcome and traditional courtesy.

Top Tip Make a bee-line for Cala Mondrago - two beautiful sandy beaches within easy reach using the bus or road-train that pass frequently through the village.

We were very impressed with the Hostal Neireda Hotel - the owners were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and our room, although basic, was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Top Tip The nicest restaurant we found was the Restuarant Porto Petro - the meal we had was excellent and not expensive.

This hotel is quite basic but we knew that before we booked. The owner and staff can't do enough for you, they are most helpful and friendly. Room was very clean but sheets were not changed once which in hot weather is not nice.We had a lovely view over the little port and a corner balcony(ask for room 112 or the room immediately above it.]Traffic noise quite loud as on a busy corner. Not a touristy commercialised place ,very sedate. Pool and pool bar fine, a bit shabby but plenty of shade and beds. We would go back, it's ideal for a cheap and cheerful hot break.

Top Tip Meal of the day at restaurants is a bargain. Can't remember name of restaurant but is right hand one of two, just down street from hotel and turn right! choice of three starters, three mains, three puddings, bottle of wine bread, bottle of water, only 7.50 euros not bad eh? Just at lunchtime though, prices go up for evening meal. Take a fishing rod as you can fish off rocks or harbour wall

Basic as stated - bit fawlty towers really but don't let that put you off! its very clean, staff are excellent and very friendly. The breakfast is very good and plenty of it. The pool area is quiet and secluded and great to chill out. The big bonus to this hotel is its location just yards from the Marina, bars and restaurants! Porto Petra itself is beautiful and quite uncommercialised. Beware though of some of the restaurants as they can be quite pricey. All in all we had an excellent time.

Top Tip Catch the bus to Mondrago Beach just a few kilometers away. Just over 2 euros return and the drivers a real comedian. Evening Taxi to Cala dor is about 8 euros but tghe bus service is very good (Timetables from Hotel reception)

This hotel was a friendly family run hotel. The breakfast was more than adequate to start the day off. The rooms were a bit tired but very clean and the towels were changed every day. The swimming pool was clean and nice to lounge around in the sun and there was a small bar at the pool for drinks if needed. All staff were exceptional. We certainly had no complaints at all and would definitely return.

Top Tip Great restaurant on the LHS corner of the port just down the hill from the hotel.

Simple, friendly, clean and quiet.

Top Tip A very unspoilt and traditional fishing point with just enough to enjoy and the amenities of larger resorts a short bus or taxi ride away (if required).

Check-in Date: 24/Jul/2008

A really nice, basic hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great for all kinds of get-a-ways; groups of friends, couples, families with older children etc.
The swimming pool and little snack bar were very nice but take a couple of beach towels as the sunbeds are uncomfortable!
The breakfast was very nice with a range of breads, cereals, cheese etc.
The rooms were clean but there is no fan or a/c - surprisingly the room didn't become unbearable.

Top Tip The port is very quaint with a few nice restaurants and bars but if you want a lively night life head to near by Cala d'or on the little train or local bus

The hotel location, in the little village, is very good. Some rooms are overlooking the marina(very nice). Lots of good restaurants very close to the hotel. 2 supermarkets nearby. Staff are very fiendly and helpfull. Breakfast good quality and always fresh fruit and veg. available. We had a clean, basic room, which was just what we wanted. We had rented a car and always got a parking space at the hotel. Had a great time there and would go again. If you are looking for a cheap, clean and basic hotel, this is the one!!!

Alison from Wallasey reviewed the Hostal Nereida Hotel
Check-in Date: 03/Aug/2007

The hotel was clean but very basic the staff and management ware friendly and very helpful. Although the rooms ware a little disappointing I would go back to this hotel because of the pool, it was never over crowded and although it is in need of some repair it was clean and your needs for both sunbathing and shade well covered. Porto Petro is a lovely resort for a quite and relaxing holiday with lots of nice places to eat out and if you want something a bit more lively Cala D'or is only a shot distance away and only cost about £5.00 by taxi.

Top Tip There are many beaches in this area which you can walk to or take the bus, we had lots of fun fishing off the rocks at the end of the harbour. There is a shop locally where you can get everything you need and it is very inexpensive.
